East Tennessee Weather II

I don't remember what year it was, but it hit -24 in Greenback one year in the 80's. Possibly 85, but I feel like it was before that.

Pretty interesting from James Spann.

I wasn’t born yet. What was the coldest you remember January 1985 being and where?

That month brought the all time record cold temperature for Knoxville on January 21 at -24°F. I believe it was the coldest, or one of the coldest observation sites in the country that day. Also had 14.2" of snow in January 1985.

I like that they’re going ahead and admitting no snow in Knoxville.

If this thing blows up like it has potential to do, we will see heavy accumulating snow From Northern Louisiana, to Atlanta all the way up to PA....including here. Check out hour 120 on the 12z EURO model showing cyclogenesus around Mobile. Long ways out though and a lot will change between now and then, but someone.....maybe us, maybe somewhere near us will get a crippling snowfall out of this one it looks like.
