The models were really hitting at an axis of heavy snow handing along the I-75 corridor last night, and it sure happened. The mid-level front and instability resulted in plenty of convective banding and even some thundersnow between about 2 and 3:30am! That produced some really heavy snow rates.
Check out the ash plume on Doppler radar from the wildfire near Pigeon Forge. Ash is falling over 50 miles away from this beast. Prayers for all involved.
