East Tennessee Weather II

I heard an EAS signal come through my tv sometime between 12p and 3p today. I never heard a message follow it. How can you look up what it was? It may even have just been a test.

If there's no message, it's a test. The only time the EAS isn't a test is if there's a specific message mentioned detailing the reason for the EAS going off.

I didn't hear the whole tone finish, I assumed I rolled over on the tv remote and hit a button. :)

I wondered if it wasn't a test if they kept logs of them.

Note:

If anyone is curious why I don't post my severe weather bulletins or alerts on days that we've had some severe weather, it's because there hasn't been an organized threat for severe weather. A lot of the storms have been typical summertime storms where there's a small chance for a severe thunderstorm or 2, but it's hard to predict if we will see them or not on a given day. Depending on if I'm at work or not, I'll continue to try to post watch and warning info as they come up.

Watch Alert!!!

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Southern Blount and Sevier, Southeast Monroe, and East Polk counties from tonight into tomorrow night. 1-2 inches is expected with locally higher amounts possible. The ground is already well saturated, so even this amount of rain will cause flash flooding.

~Severe Weather Alert~

What: The threat of localized Flash Flooding will increase tonight into Wednesday starting in Southeast TN, then expanding to all of East TN. In addition, there is a marginal risk for strong to severe thunderstorms on Tuesday. All of this is associated with Tropical Storm Alberto.

Threats: The primary threat is localized flash flooding. We could see anywhere from 2-5 inches of rain. On Tuesday, the primary severe risk will be the possibility of a brief tornado or 2 due to the ample low level wind shear from the tropical system.

Watch update:

The rest of East TN is now inside the Flash Flood Watch. It's in effect from tomorrow morning to Wednesday. Most areas will see anywhere between 2-3 inches of rain, with some isolated areas seeing 4-6 inches.

~Severe Weather Alert~

There's a slight risk for strong to severe storms from Knoxville to areas west and north for today, while the rest of the area has a marginal risk. There's also a marginal risk for the southern 2/3rds of East TN (including Knoxville) tomorrow.

Primary threats:

1. Damaging winds in excess of 60mph is the biggest threat.

2. Large hail up to quarter size is also possible.

3. Isolated flooding is likely, as the ground is still well saturated from previous rain.

Timing:

Midday into the afternoon hours for today. Timing for tomorrow still has some uncertainties, but as of now, the storms should be arriving in the afternoon.

This. Unless there's a major storm system, people aren't as interested in the weather. Even on the weather message boards, there's very little discussion going on outside of winter.

Yeah, Why I don’t post unless it’s a severe outbreak which we have been very fortunate not to have SO far.

It has been very unseasonably this year.

It’s not the heat, but the Humidity. Should see a patteren change for a bit. Then it’ll be the dog days.

Looking ahead. I see a very dry patteren. Be blessed by the nuisance rain we have received.

I've been telling people we will be begging for rain by August.
