THIS EVENING THROUGH 7 AM EST THURSDAY MORNING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and
southwest Virginia, including the following areas, in
southwest North Carolina, Cherokee and Clay. In east
Tennessee, Anderson, Bledsoe, Blount Smoky Mountains, Bradley,
Campbell, Claiborne, East Polk, Grainger, Hamilton, Hancock,
Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Morgan, North Sevier,
Northwest Blount, Northwest Monroe, Rhea, Roane, Scott,
Sequatchie, Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast Monroe, Union,
and West Polk. In southwest Virginia, Lee.

* From 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this evening through 7 AM EST Thursday
morning

* Heavy rain returns overnight tonight into Thursday morning ahead
of fast moving cold front. Rainfall rates will be enhanced by
thunderstorms with amounts up to 1 to 2 inches expected. This
additional rainfall coupled with an already saturated ground
will lead to the possibility of localized flash flooding.

* People in the watch area should be aware of the possibility of
additional flooding and mud slides. Avoid low lying areas and
be careful when approaching highway dips and underpasses.

* Until 930 PM EST.

* At 838 PM EST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 10 miles southeast of Jamestown to Crossville to 8
miles northeast of Pikeville, moving east at 60 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Oak Ridge, Lenoir City, Kingston, Rockwood, Loudon, Wartburg,
Fairview, Oliver Springs, Midtown and Harriman.
 
Heads up:

With the extremely saturated ground, the winds won’t have to reach severe levels to possibly start downing trees and power lines. Be careful tonight everyone, especially if you’re going to be on the roads. Flooding will be extremely difficult to see at night.

Hearing a lot of power outages already on the plateau. If you have any trees near your home please prepare to take cover as VK stated the ground is over saturated thus loosing the soil around the root system. One good gust could uproot a tree.

Weather channel showing an old documentary now. They used to have live coverage for severe weather events but now the channel is like a movie channel most of the time during severe weather. I certainly would like to keep up with the weather continuously tonight instead of getting updates on the internet which is not real time.
