Looking like will be closer to the end of January Vol Knight, is this correct?

By the way, alot of fun watching and discussing this storm for the last week+ with everyone. Went from snow, to no snow and then back to snow with the models and track. Also interesting the GFS was standing alone for a long time but finally came around.

Wish the L could have been 120 miles East of the TN line instead of going up the coast. Would have been a monster blizzard for us but it's a very good start to the season nonetheless.

That's probably the case. It may even be February when we get more opportunities.

I said that I got 3 inches, but I measured it wrong. I actually got 4 inches. I measured the ground and it had 3 inches, but when I measured the flat table outside, it showed 4 inches.

MRX has issued a Special Weather Statement addressing the road conditions.

...HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON
ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION...

THE COMBINATION OF SUBFREEZING TEMPERATURES AND THE SNOW AND ICE
PACK ON ROADS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS AND SLIPPERY TRAVEL CONDITIONS
INTO THIS AFTERNOON. THIS IS PARTICULARLY TRUE FOR AREAS THAT
Received SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW ALONG AND EAST OF THE INTERSTATE
75 CORRIDOR. UNTREATED AND SECONDARY ROADS ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE
SLICK. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...USE EXTRA CAUTION AND ALLOW MORE TIME
TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.

Driving down to Fairhope AL I haven't seen hardly any snow or ice but 59 and 20 are apparently parking lots my GPS rerouted me down Hwy 77 which is honestly a nice drive

Hey Coug... how's it looking out there off Lovell Rd? You have a light "Busting"? :p

Sort of actually. :)

We only got about half an inch to 3/4 of an inch here. The further east you went the heavier it got.

What are you guys thinking about schools Monday?

I'm not seeing any preliminary delays or closing alerts for Knox County Schools.

I'd double check these in Monday morning to be sure...

Need someone to help me out here.

My buddies and I all live in knoxville, we took the day off Tuesday to play golf, but I'm thinking the snow won't be gone by then. If the snow is still on the ground, courses won't be open.

Where could we go within an hour drive that would not have gotten snow? Did it miss us north? South? West? I assume there is more snow east of here so driving towards Gatlinburg I would think would be off the table.

Not sure an hour away even South or Southwest would help. I would try calling some an hour away in those directions.

Would it be safe to assume northwest would be my best bet?

I thought Scott county even got snow. Not sure. I would think you would have to travel more than an hour. The high Monday is 40 with sun so it should melt alot of it. The next problem would be cart path only with the ground saturated.

You all are some hard core golfers aren't you? Lol

Go to the bar and play Golden Tee instead.

Him asking and it this cold I already had the same thought but how about....

A sports bar with golf simulaters one after another where you brought your own clubs in and played a round with friends while in a controlled environment with beer on tap and delicious food.

A hole in one gets you a free beer.

Hi all! This is my first post ever on VolNation. I have been a member since 2010 and a viewer since 2009. I was wanting to ask what are the thoughts on the weather pattern after January 21ish on in to the beginning of Feb? Looks colder and the GFS has showed some snow around the 24-26.

Welcome to VN, and make sure to post often. I think the best opportunities for winter storms will be in February, but can't rule out seeing something towards the end of January.

Welcome to Volnation. It does look like this warm trend will flip to cold the last week of January. That said everything can change from the precip to the cold and it so far out. Like VK said February is looking to be cold (which is subject to change) but is more favorable for us during this month.

I was driving in to work this morning wishing this heavy rain over night had cold air here for it. Not sure of the rain totals but would have been a good snow.
