Northeastern Rhea County in eastern Tennessee...
West central Roane County in eastern Tennessee...

* Until 700 PM EDT

* At 620 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles north of
Spring City, or 10 miles southwest of Rockwood, moving northeast at
15 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Rockwood, Grandview, Eagle Furnace and Piney Falls S.p.
 
No severe storms tonight. I am keeping my eye on tomorrow, but the biggest threat this weekend is flooding.

There were a couple decent flash flood soakers that rolled through last night. The heaviest one rolled through about 1:30am. It was like absolute downpour for 8 minutes.

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Southwest North Carolina,
East Tennessee, and Southwest Virginia, including the
following areas, in Southwest North Carolina, Cherokee and
Clay. In East Tennessee, Anderson, Bledsoe, Blount Smoky
Mountains, Bradley, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke Smoky
Mountains, East Polk, Grainger, Hamblen, Hamilton, Hancock,
Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn,
Meigs, Morgan, NW Blount, North Sevier, Northwest Carter,
Northwest Cocke, Northwest Greene, Northwest Monroe, Rhea,
Roane, Scott TN, Sequatchie, Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast
Carter, Southeast Greene, Southeast Monroe, Sullivan, Unicoi,
Union, Washington TN, and West Polk. In Southwest Virginia,
Lee, Russell, Scott, Washington, and Wise.

* From 2 PM EDT /1 PM CDT/ this afternoon through Sunday
afternoon

* One to three inches of rainfall will be common across much of
the area through Sunday with localized amounts in excess of 4
inches possible.

* The persistent rainfall will saturate the ground across much of
the area. The additional heavy rains could lead to flooding of
roadways, poor drainage areas, low lying areas and small rivers
and streams across the region. Mud slides are possible,
especially across the burn scar areas of Sevier County,
Tennessee
.

* At 549 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have
already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Knoxville, Oak Ridge, Maryville, Sevierville, Clinton, Lenoir City,
Alcoa, Kingston, Rockwood, Loudon, Wartburg, Farragut, Fairview,
Pigeon Forge, Oliver Springs, Louisville, Rockford, Midtown,
Eagleton Village and Harriman.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM EDT
FOR MONROE COUNTY...

At 712 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 8 miles southeast of Loudon to near Madisonville to 14
miles east of Etowah, moving east at 50 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to
roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Sweetwater, Madisonville, Vonore, Greenback, Tellico Plains, Citico
Beach, Tariffville, McGee Carson Peninsula, Mount Vernon and Fort
Loudon S.p..
 
We remain in a very prolonged flooding situation. We've been under a Flood advisory, Flood Warning, and Flash Flood Warning for the past 18-24 hours.
 
Some really good news:

Thanks to the recent rainfall we've received, most of East Tennessee is now out of the drought. Parts of the foothills and mountains in Southeast TN are still in the abnormally dry category.
