VK and RT and crew....

Leaving out in the morning to go to Destin for 8 days. Got 3 rounds of golf booked and looking forward to some time on the beach.

Until about 4 days ago it was showing sunny weather with a slight chance of rain, now out of nowhere Saturday-Wednesday is showing thunderstorms all day and night.

Will y'all look at your models and give your 2 cents? Is my vacation about to be ruined? I know Florida beach weather can be tricky to predict.

Lived in Destin most of my life. The weather will change everyday. It'll probably rain but not like you think it will. Also, Be weary of June grass.. It burns!

~VK's Severe Weather Discussion~

This is a complex system that is giving some of the short range models quite a bit of trouble. The reason being is that there is a Cap in place over our area.

A Cap is essentially a layer of dry, stable air aloft. When a Cap is in place, the weather stays dry. The weird thing about a Cap is that it can both hinder and promote severe thunderstorms. The way it prevents severe weather is that it prevents the atmosphere from becoming unstable. The way it can promote severe weather is that it holds back the energy from the system. When that happens and the cap erodes, numerous severe storms can pop up and have a good amount of energy in them. Now, in order for the cap to weaken, the temperature in the atmosphere has to warm up by a certain amount to remove the cap and allow convection to develop.

The uncertainties with this system is will the cap weaken enough? If so, when does it happen? The other factors for severe weather are in place (moisture, wind, ect).
