"EDGE" James

Yeah, 118 yards and 4 TDs rushing... as well as 88 yards receiving. It's beside the point.

It's all about getting the tough yards and making the big plays in big situations. James could never do that. Trust me, I watched nearly every game of his career with the Colts.

Yup, if getting ALL the information is besides the point, then you're right.

How's bout I don't. The question was if we would take the tandem of Addai/ Rhodes over James, so it would only make sense...

The question was whether the Colts are better off without James. If you would trade Edgarin James for Joeseph Addai straight up, I think there would be a lot of NFL owners praying for you to become a GM somewhere in the league.

The comment I have issue with is - the Colts are not better off without Edge.

Yes they are. It is a team game, the team is in the SB. They are better off than they ever were with him, in this regard.

Just as the 98 Vols were better off with Tee Martin, that the 97 Vols were with PM.

Exactly. It wasn't like the Colts dropped James, and picked up both Addai and Rhodes. Rhodes was a tool before 2006.

Regardless, either duo would please me as a GM.

It's absolutely impossible to say where the Colts would be this year with James.

So you are saying that Peyton would not have won with the 98 team?

I would, Addai has looked very good. And odds are he has a lot more miles on him than does Edge at this point. You think the Colts would trade Addai to the Cardinals right now for Edge? I don't.

I would take Addai over James for a couple of reasons. Money... and what I've been saying over and over again... James couldn't ever get the tough yards or make big plays. Addai has proven he can do this.

How do you define tough yards?

Are you holding the James slide against him?

3rd-and-1... James could hardly EVER convert. 4th-and-1... he could NEVER convert. Colts vs. Pats- 2004-... James fumbles on the goal line. It was 3rd-and-goal from the 1 and could've won the game. That's just one instance. There were MANY during his career in Indy.

Now THAT is funny.

I would like to point out that James has been in the top 5 in carries in the NFL for 4 of the 7 seasons he's played more than half a season.

Do you think the offensive gurus in Indy would continually leave James in on short downs if he couldn't do it?

One reason the Owner Of the Colts stated that they didn't re-sign Edge was because he wasn't a break away threat. Edge could always get 20 to 25 yds but never did break the 50, 60, or 70 yd runs.

Not if you're a Colts fan. Edge not being able to convert on 3rd-and-shorts got old. Peyton had to pass in a lot of those situations.

I am a Colts fan. I've watched a ton of their games, minus this past season. James was very capable of getting tough yards. You point out ONE example that jumps out due to the pain we feel. However, he was plenty capable.
