Effects of coach security on recruting (split)

I'm not sure how I feel about him resigning mid season. What does it accomplish? We can't really contact any coaches mid season. Resign in December, go after a coach and he has enough time to keep as many recruits as possible.

he can announce his retirement for the end of the season now, though

I know and then we begin to lose recruits. If he resigns at the end of the season and we can find a coach quickly, that coach could hopefully come in and keep everything in place.

The University might not be able to contact any coaches, but the "boosters" can contact them or their agents and tell them how much money would be laying on the table.

Those coaches aren't going to be doing any recruiting for UT during that time period though. I just don't see what good comes out of announcing it now.

not how it works. There are some recruits coming here specifically for Fulmer. They want to play for Fulmer more than UT.

If we say he is resigning now or in december, either way recruits will have the option to decommit. Tyler Smith is a perfect example of this.

how so. What are the pros of announcing it now?

I meant getting rid of him in general. The only pro would be having the players possibly play harder for him... Ex. Michigan vs Florida last year

Again winning is the ACC is far easier than winning in the SEC. I want a coach that has been in the SEC and knows what the SEC is like. GIVE US MUSCHAMP!!!!!!!
