Election Night (or days, or weeks, or whatever) 2022

Trump doesn't need to be "professional and political". Plus democrats threw out professionalism before and during his presidency. Many people who don't like Trump do so because they honestly have those same traits they accuse Trump of having.

Yes he does. His policy ideas and vision are good, but he is cringeworthy. You don't rile up the other side when you're not on the ballot. As a matter of fact you don't rile up the other side unless it's a policy related matter. The fact that he started this drip of being about him prior to the midterms was not a good idea. Then the ridiculous namecalling with Desantis is wearing thin on people. If people like MTG start to run off at the mouth about Desantis he will lose more support. There's a way to do things.

It’s almost as though Trump doesn’t care about Republicans or conservativism.

If you are anything but a white man, you need to get the f out of texas, and get the f out of florida. You are nothing but cattle there. Just pack your bags and get out. You will be better of. They are trying to kill you.
Dude........... Seek help. Where is your family? Your loved ones need to stage an intervention.

Republicans Have Won 6 Million More Votes than Democrats in House Races, But Gained Relatively Few Seats

According to the Cook Political Report, as of Thursday morning, November 10, Republicans have won 50,113,534 votes, or 52.3% of the vote, compared to 44,251,768, or 46.2% of the vote. Republicans lead by 6.1%, which is better than their average in “generic congressional ballot” polls, in which the party led by 2.5% in the final RealClearPolitics average before the election. But Republicans have only managed to flip nine seats thus far — likely enough to control the House, but far short of a “wave” result many anticipated.

The mismatch between overall votes cast for Republicans and the actual result reflects the polarized nature of congressional maps. It also reflects the fact that Republican losses against many Democratic incumbents were very narrow. However, it could also suggest that Democrats ran a more effective campaign, concentrating resources where they were needed to defend their vulnerable positions.

In comparison, during the Tea Party “wave” election of 2010, in which Republicans won 63 seats, Republicans won 44,593,666 votes out of 86,784,957 cast, or 51.3%. Democrats won 38,854,459 votes, or 44.8%, meaning that the Republican margin of victory was 6.5%, similar to the margin thus far in 2022. However, the Republicans failed to win the Senate in that race, losing several key races.

You guys are so damn cute. Wait until the full vote totals from the west coast get tallied. It'll be far less than 6 million.

So don't worry, Dr. Jerry Mander is still on your payroll.

Do you think I’m going to be sympathetic to this argument? Make it a holiday, or continue to allow alternatives for those who can’t take time off work that day.

If you make it a holiday most people will just use it as a vacation day and 4 day weekend beach trips. No federal or state holidays require employers to close/give a paid day off.

If you want people to vote AND have integrity.

1. Get rid of absentee ballots/mail in ballots for everyone except those away from home on .gov service.
2. Move the election to the first Thursday after April 15th.
3. Make election day a Thursday thru Sunday event with the poles open from 6am to 8pm. If you can't find a time to vote over 4 14 hour days then you just didn't want to vote.

And no I don't think you are sympathetic to the argument because you have never signed the front of a paycheck.

This whole "move election day to after tax day" thing isn't really a thing. People are getting hammered by inflation, skyrocketing real estate and high gas prices...

Yet they still vote for someone with a (D) or (R) behind their name because...

Because they're dumb and don't pay attention. They just voted a dead guy into office for crying out loud. Do you honestly think tax day will move the needle?

It couldn't hurt and I do think it would be in the minds of all HoR members whenever a bill that raises taxes comes up for a vote. It might not help much but I don't see how it could hurt.

I think you believe the HoR actually gives a damn what the minions think...

It's the new royal class.

If you’re talking about making it 4 days I’m totally fine with that. But of course that isn’t really on the table.

And the opposition to making Election Day a holiday would have nothing to do with cost. I suspect you know that.
