Elliot Williams

Memphis, Duke, and Virginia eh?.. i like our chances with him against those three better than UNC, Texas and Vandy

Luckily this has to do with the player's personal preference as to which school best suites him, rather than which is seemingly better in your opinion. Duke alone is a bigger threat than UNC, Texas & Vandy, hence the reason they're in the top 4.

Keith sheds some light on our involvement with Elliot.

"The info is good. Whenever someone in summerball does something seedy it reflects on all of us. I don't have a problem speaking out because it's the truth, this family has handled a complex, confusing situation beautifully. The UT staff has laid their ears back and overcome alot of obstacles in Memphis, established quality relationships and worked very hard to recruit EW, a UT staff member plus coach Pearl has been here (Memphis) for the last few days, babysitting EW, they brought JP by my 14-under practice, took pics with players, parents, etc. Hell, I'm wearing an Orange UT basketball shirt to practice some. Some staffs see obstacles and don't recruit places/players because of the degree of difficulty, this staff has no perceived prejudices when it comes to recruiting, they tell everyone "we are here and we aren't going anywhere", unlike others, they also assess talent very well. JP seemed happy, upbeat, talked about Tyler improving, Wayne maturing and seems excited to be a Vol. He raved about the football program, plus he's grown to a legit 6'8".

Your staff paid a visit to St. George today also. The Williams have to know how bad UT wants their son to be a Vol.

Good luck" -Keith Easterwood

He also stated Tennessee has established a strong presence in Memphis.

im lost on this one... first of all who is talking and what are they talking about

EW stands for Elliot Willams (hence the initials). As for Keith Easterwood, he is a prominent AAU coach out in Memphis. Very knowledgable, and is also the best recruiting source for statewide prospects. After what I've been told by Keith and a few others not mentioned, I'm really liking our chances with Elliot.

We are in Elliott's final four along with Memphis, Duke, and Virginia....

Man if we landed him, he would be the highest ranked and most skilled basketball player to ever come to Tennessee!

The race has just begun folks..........

Scout.com: Elliot Williams Profile

Not true. Vince Yarbrough was considered by some (not all) the #1 player in America when he came to UT. Allan Houston was a consensus top 5 player in America. They didn't rank players back in Bernard King's day, but if they did he'd be in the top 3, if not #1 in his class.

What publication had Yarbrough ranked as #1???

somebody needs to interest me in the sports world as of this week... maybe a commit from Singleton, Williams or Fortson... because i am ridiculously bored with the current sports that are going on

Fortson is probably the third option at PG. Cashmere Wright and Terrell Holloway may have jumped him because of his grade issues. Wright for sure and he is expected to be coming in on an unofficial in August.

Keith Easterwood=Professional parasite and douchebag.

Yeah, one of the few honest and trustworthy coaches left on the circuit is a parasite. Makes perfect sense. You mind telling me what gave you the impression that he's a "Professional parasite and douchebag?"

He was the #2 by whoever Athlon references, behind Lamar Odom, who I think was a transfer and not really a Sr in high school or something.

Thanks. I remember that now. Couldn't remember the source, but I remember him being considered the #1 senior by somebody. Seems like another publication had Tayshaun Prince #1 that year (who UK got after VY committed to UT).

Anyway, he was rated higher than EW is rated right now. But I would bet the farm that EW ends up a better player under Pearl.

You mean other than the fact that all of the numerous college coaches I know would be perfectly happy if he walked in front of a bus?

I don't care what numerous coaches you've spoken with think of Keith. He doesn't influence or sway recruits to certain coaching staffs like many of his colleagues do. Many coaches don't like him for the simple fact that he doesn't allow them to use unlawful and questionable tactics to steer his kids. I'll take integrity over another worthless cowering coach that plagues the reputation of AAU basketball. Guys like Bruce, John, and Paul Hewitt, certainly appreciate his efforts.
