Elliot Williams

The vibe I'm getting from McDonald and a couple other of his friends is Tennessee will edge out Virginia. They say he doesn't want to stay in Memphis.

:eek:hmy:

Does McDonald play on the same team as Elliot? And are we still 2nd or 3rd on McDonald's list trailing Duke?

Thanks for the info LLV90.

If (knock on wood) Elliot did commit to UT, do you think that eliminates our chances to land McDonald next year?

no it doesnt eliminate our chance with McDonald, if we land Elliot.. Leslie can play the point, therefore, Elliot will play the 2.. Elliot will feel most comfortable playing the two anyways

Do you know if Leslie would be comfortable playing point, or do you think that would drive him away?

So is UT still 2nd on Leslie's list behind Duke?

I don't really think he is putting anyone out in front at this moment. He is just listening to what all schools have to say. I think Duke has the upper hand because of their prestige and academics, but Tennessee has done an unbelieveable job of letting him know where they stand. Leslie is definitely going to keep Tennessee in it for a long time.
I don't know if he notices it that much, but either Pearl or Forbes has come by the school about 10-15 times while Coach K and the other assistants have been 2-3 times.
I don't think it hurts our case either that our assistant coach graduated from Tennessee a few years ago and goes back to Knoxville every couple of weeks during the summer to help work the camps with Pearl.

He doesn't run the point for our school. He says he plays it a lot during AAU season, but he is a solid ball-handler, maybe not what a typical PG would be.
Our offense at school is the same one Memphis runs, the attack-attack-skip-attack-attack offense created by Pepperdine. So it doesn't always matter if the ball is brought up by the PG every possession, so he does push the ball up the court for us a lot.
But to answer your question, I don't think it would drive him away. He is very capable of playing the 2 or 3, and he is smart enough to learn the point and play it extremely well.

Contrary to popular belief, Virginia has been the biggest factor in Elliot's recruitment. Our staff is in a dogfight with Dave Leitao.

yes I've never really been too worried about Duke in his recruitment. Only Memphis b/c it's his hometown team but it seems that he doesn't want to stick around anyway. Surely he saw who came out on top during the UVA game in the tourney last year :good!:

Per Keith Easterwood, a prominent and knowledgeable AAU coach in Memphis. If he says something happened it is about 99.9% fact...

Anyway here is what he said:

Duke? Quality education. ACC. Great staff. Hard to turn down.

Johnny Dawkins came to see EW. Went to the school lobby, goes to the office, in a rather arrogant manner tells the secretary he's here to see coach Ruffin, then to see EW. Secretary tells the Duke educated asst. that the school has no coach Ruffin or a student named EW. She calls someone to help the confused Duke asst., her schools coach, John Harrington, coach Harrington arrives only to be told by arrogant Duke educated asst. to hold on while he's on his cell. Coach Harrington informs said asst. that he's at Briarcrest not St.George.

The whole time EW is waiting on the Duke educated asst. at St. George. By the time Dawkins arrived EW had received a text from a Briarcrest student explaining Dawkins absence.

Duke's arrogance, which they can't conceal has killed them with EW, at the same time, well Leslie McDonald isn't real impressed.
