Enough of the "we stayed with a team" crap.

Honestly, there's plenty of work to be done for sure, but some people need to really take a look at our roster.

They're still playing better than I expected prior to the season's start.

I'd bench Golden immediately. He's more of a liability than a benefit right now.

Nah, I think you let him play through it. The season is long and everyone will encounter slumps. I would tell Golden that he's still my guy and have him work on getting back to form.

I'm not sure why people are comparing Dooley and Martin right now, though. Dooley just finished year two and Martin's in week 4. Not exactly the same.

His 14th season as a head coach, his first year at Tennessee, Pearl reached an entirely new level of success. Entering the 2005-06 campaign, the Vols were picked to finish fifth out of six teams in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division. With a team that had lost two of its top players from the previous season and just one new player added to the rotation, it was no surprise expectations were low in Knoxville.

At the end of the season, Tennessee had won 22 games and won the SEC Eastern Division title with a 12-4 league record. UT swept its regular season series against four of the other five SEC Eastern Division schools (South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Vanderbilt) and were ranked as high as No. 8 by the Associated Press.

A "slump" isn't getting raped defensively several games in a row. If it was only his shooting stroke, I'd agree. His onball defense the last couple of games has just been atrocious. And that's probably being kind. That's an effort problem, and I'd fix that by sitting his ass.

His on ball defense has never been good, which is why Richardson was picking up the PG towards the end of the game.

It's not an effort thing, it's a he can't handle playmakers deal. He's a natural 2 playing the point out of necessity. Our best hope is that Washpun develops into the 1 he could be and then we won't have this problem. But, I don't think sitting Golden solves the problem at all.

Dang it Willie,

I wished you would quit telling these boys how good Pearl was and backing it up with facts. It cuts down the name calling (Pearlophile, Pearl Lover, Idiot, etc). All you are doing is making people mad. We all know we have hired Wade Houston all over again. Nobody wants to admit.

You do realize who Pearl inherited on that team. If I remember a quote correctly from Buzz "If they had only given me one more year, I had been telling them just one more year" something along those lines.

I'd say the amount of people who think that is a rapidly dwindling minority.

You did get the memo? It's a rebuilding year. You don't lose Hopson & Harris along with a coaching staff that had been here for several years and expect to beat ranked teams? They played tough, yes. But made some mistakes down the stretch. Rebounding and point guard play is obvious areas that need improvement.

Hmmmm. seems I remember a coach who came in here
and won his first year.

Martin has C.J. Watson and Chris Lofton, one of the best backcourts in the SEC in the last twenty year?

The ultimate glue guy in Dane Bradshaw?

Hell, Major Wingate is better than any of our post players.

I see a significant effort problem on the defensive end with Golden. If you don't, that's fine. Saying he's a natural 2 is just an excuse. If he plays at his current level and guards an even fair player that plays the 2, he's going to get abused.

Buzz was about to have Jamont Gordon and Tyler Smith coming in as well. He recruited pretty well and certainly left the roster in a better shape than Bruce did.
