Erik Ainge-Heisman Rank-CBS.Sportsline

Good point by EA.In the past, there have been several Heisman UT QB candidates/mentions such as Shuler and Manning and the hype never bothered them.
yeah, but the difference this year is that EA didn't come in to the season as a Heisman candidate...Heath and Peyton came in to those years already on a lot of lists..and Peyton was the leader all season long unilt the Mich/OSU game that year.

EA won't have to go thru the scrutiny that Peyton did that's for sure...espeically since he's getting the recognition AFTER LOSING to Florida which proved to be Peyton's demise...weird huh?

I never looked at it that way.The comparison to Peyton is huge to say the least.

ainge needs to stay another year......I think next year he will be in preseason top 5 for heisman and hopefully he gets to win it next year. With him winning heisman, it should also boost are QB and WR recruiting(having the cut doesnt hurt either)

Only if you win the award based upon 1 play. His stats for the rest of the season were mediocre at best. Champ Bailey at Georgia was a better all-around player.
Why am I not surprised to see one of the Manningites rattling on about statistics? If that's what we use as a judge, where's David Klingler's Heisman? Kevin Sweeney's? As much as it probably pains the Peyton worshippers to admit it, there actually is something more important than individual numbers. It's called winning. Woodson was the best player on a National Championship team. Manning was the QB of a team that got embarassed by the two best teams they played in '97. End of story.

Yeah, but we didn't get embarassed by Nebraska until after the Heisman voting. :p

I realize that. It's just further evidence that the voters got exactly the right read on Mr. Woodson and Mr. Manning. The media recognized who was a winner and voted accordingly.

I think that one loss certinly hurt him, but if plays the way he's been playing and not throwing more than 2 picks its a good possibility!!!!

Speaking of Heismans, popularity contests,Nebraska, etc., what's old Eric Crouch (sp) up do these days?Is he still playing NFL, oh never mind.....................:)

Its a possibility, but not one to place bets on. "IF" Ohio State gets beat and Troy Smith starts to stumble, "AND" Tennessee wins out, including a big BCS win. In that scenario its certainly a possiblity. But, I think the odds are very very slim.

Now next season, he will most likely enter the season as a front runner. It will be interesting to see how he handles that.

I disagree, but I really would rather take an ice pick to the temple than argue about it.

It's not really a favorite subject of mine. However, I just can't resist eliciting the Pavlovian response from the Deliverance wing of Vol Nation.

I didn't know P/M played offense and defense.ALL the blame seems to ALWAYS wind up in his lap.........
