Back to Ainge, remember the original topic, I beleive he really could turn Pro after this year. I'm not saying anything about success or if he is ready because since when has that mattered to the NFL. They tend to draft on potential and EA is showing what he is capable of doing. Who wouldn't want a 6'6" QB with a gun, who else is out there besides Quinn with NFL size? Take the money and run. Fortunately we have Crompton that looks like he is going to be a good one also. :hi:
If Troy Smith is a first round pick, some GM is signing his own death warrant. Before his injury, Brian Brohm, IMO, was the best NFL QB talent in college football ... and it wasn't close.
Will HE come out early? I doubt it.
Troy Smith will get a 1st round pick, most likely, regardless of his size.
Before Drew Stanton's mediocre 1st half, he was a possible 1st rounder.
Trent Edwards, believe it or not, could be a 3rd rounder or sooner.
Kevin Kolb might go early. Jordan Palmer, too. Jeff Rowe has early round size and the resume.
The class isn't very top heavy, but there are a lot of other undersized guys that could get picked early because of their stats. Chris Leak is a perfect example.
Ainge, if he wants a long NFL career more than the immediate guaranteed money, will wait until he graduates.

I'm gonna have to plead complete ignorance here. I've never heard of Edwards or Kolb.Trent Edwards, believe it or not, could be a 3rd rounder or sooner.

And I called myself a college football fan.:mf_surrender:
Kolb plays for Houston. I saw him in person against the "U." He's pretty good. Edwards plays at Stanford. There's absolutely no reason you should have heard of him.I'm gonna have to plead complete ignorance here. I've never heard of Edwards or Kolb.

Those three teams could have Matt Hasselback or Donovan McNabb at QB and they wouldn't win a National Championship.Edwards is the SR QB at Stanford who put up good numbers as a JR last season and has good size. However, as you could guess with an 0-6 record, he doesn't look as good.
Kevin Kolb is the QB at Houston, who before the loss to ULL, I thought, was the best QB in the country. If Kolb were at Miami, Florida State, or Georgia Tech, they'd be undefeated and wouldn't have any competition for the NC.
Good point by EA.In the past, there have been several Heisman UT QB candidates/mentions such as Shuler and Manning and the hype never bothered them.read an article this morning on KNS...talking about EA getting some heisman love, and his quote was:
"That kind of stuff is fun, but being on the Heisman list doesnt win you football games," he said. "I dont get caught up in it, the guys on the team dont get caught up in the hype. It wont affect us at all.
"Obviously that stuffs fun on a personal level, but it never got us a first down."
Good stuff.
