ESPN

If he wants to be a Vol that bad, then he will be a Vol...man up...there is plenty of time for him to be contacted by this staff.

As for the 2011 class, ESPN acts as if any of it was set in stone, plenty of time for kids to go all Ahmad Dixon...they left because of Kiffin, not because Dooley has neglected to call them.

I just dont understand why its so hard to make a phone call.
Them number thingies are just sooo confuserating.

Seriously guys, chill the heck out. Sounds like things are mended up with MacLain, we have interest from one of the top LBers in Texas and have interest from one of the top TEs in the country. We might actually have to consider the possibility that Dooley just maybe knows what the hell he is doing.

Blasphemy!!! :p Seriously though folks, why can't we just wait for at least a few games into the season to make judgements.CDD got us a handful of great recruits in only a couple weeks...I think it's safe to say he and his staff know what it takes.

Everyone knows ESPN has never given UT credit for anything and they like any media outlet only reports the negative side and not the possitive side of any news story especialy if it is has anything to do with UT.Considering the past relationship between ESPN and UT I would take it all with a grain of salt. We also need to cut Dooley some slack.

I'll turn that around. Baggett talked with the coach and told him the offer stood, that they were evaluating where the kid fit and they looked forward to seeing him at jr day in a couple weeks. This was done in the last two weeks.

Why on earth is the kid flipping out? Why doesn't the kid call the coach if there is a problem?

You van try to spin it however you want, but the kid just got caught up with nutty thinking or more likely, didn't like the thought that they are going to tell him he's gonna play oline in college.

Either way, the coaches are good at this, they are used to dealing with 17 yr old drama queens, and this kid sounds like a pretty solid guy. They will get him back on track.

When ever a kid decommits from lack of attention you could say "why didn't he call." While im not saying this way is right, im saying this is how it is. You don't have to offer a shcolly just to talk to this 17yr old drama queens. Also im not saying the sky is falling like some, just that i thought it was strange that so many kids were saying they have not be contacted yet.

How about using a more fit word like Stupid or Idiot... maybe even Stupid Idiot.

YOU DON'T GO CALLING SOMEONE A RETARD... I assume you don't have a "handicapped" family member or could careless if you did.

What if he has someone who is stupid in his family? I think maybe you could have offended him........ I think you know it has became a slang term that isn't related to being mentally handicapped. Similar to something people don't agree with being "gay". Get off the soap box.

You do know that they had already reaffirmed that he had an offer? And baggett had talked to his coach and the kid is committed. You are treating this as if the kid was neglected. He wasn't. And the coaches will prove they are the professionals at this and if the kid wants to play oline here, they will nail it back down.

My points are one, the staff did nothing wrong and two, the kid overreacted and most of the posters here are acting more like the 17 yr old kid than the professional staff.

I bet he is focusing on the team. Its been less than a month since NSD 2010. So I would give it some time and be patient. I am going to go ahead and predict Maclain will be a vol again.

I dont doubt that he overreacted and never said the staff did anything specifically wrong. I was just wondering why so many kids that had interest in UT were not getting any attention.

It took us all of 2 weeks to get Rogers, Hunter, and Stone so I could care less if this guy decommitts 11 months before NSD, it doesn't mean anything at this point.

This McClain guy could have gotten bored, taken other visits in the winter and changed his commitment to UNC at the last minute. Who knows?

I dont think that is actually the case. I'd bet that by the time some of those quotes got circulated, they had been contacted.

We have no ideal if DD or the other coaches have contacted kids or not, because its not in a article doesnt mean they are not recruiting.People thinks since there isnt an article then DD must not be contacting kids.I really dont see DD just up and stop working because NSD is over with.He has a pretty good ideal that recruiting is a 365 day job.

ESPN didn't like our last coach.

ESPN doesn't like our current coach.

ESPN seems somewhat threatened by the University of Tennessee.

Silly Season. Won't change much until Nick Stephens starts hitting the safeties between the numbers in a few weeks. :p

There are people that follow this closer than me, but I don't get it. If there is any chance you want the kid then you keep him tied in until you are sure you have landed someone better(if that is what you are trying to do).

Not to belittle your point but "tied in" to what? These "commitments" are as worthless as Confederate money. The truth is a new coach has taken over and he is doing his own evaluations. If McClain meets Dooley's and Chaney's criteria, he'll be offered. My belief based on a year's worth of watching is that Kiffin offered just about everybody. I sense that Dooley actually looks at how the player might contribute to his team. The truth is that if we have to keep recruiting a "committed" player what good is the commitment.

LULZ wow, no need to freak out yet. There is a season to play and we are 49 weeks from signing day. We'll be just fine

This recruiting class just ended and already ppl are freaking about next year's class. Most players dont commit until at least the season if not after it. Chill

CDD came in and did a great job with a situation many could not. I think he deserves alot more credit. Also as a coach he knows what he wants for his system to work and it might not include players that had interest in UT prior to him coming there. He will get the best players that he wants for UT so be patient and as others have mentioned do not freak out.

I think this year will be very interesting regarding some of the head to head battles UT and UA will have for recruiting, especially in the state of GA. Both teams are going to plubder that state and most of the top prospects seem to be looking at UT or UA above UGA. It will be a fun year to watch and the demise of CMR at UGA.

some of the posts on this thread just amaze me...we are talking about 16 and 17 year old kids here...this kid bleeds Orange...you are completely wrong if you don't think that recruits, their families, and their coaches read this Forum...a few people that post here on VN are downright embarrassing...go VOLS!

Seriously.... Stupid is a choice not a mental problem. I find that most people that say what you just said has no ties to a mentally handicapped person or never looked at it through their shoes (Selfish - and again thats another choice). Point is... I'm not sensitive but I think its down right immature for people to cross boundries on forums that they wouldn't if they were standing face to face with someone.

If you dealt with Retarded kids/people you would see the term differently.... thats if you had some sort of heart.

Being Politically correct is just wrong IMO but that doesn't mean you can just cross any boundry you feel like.

Sorry for the threadjack.... back to the critics of Dooley claiming their not critics. :eek:lol:
