ESPN article on OK QB Trevor Knight

Knight may wind up being a bust, but if history means anything, we won't see that from him until after he shreds the every living ish out of Tennessee in September.

Did anyone else read the comments? Wow their fans could easily be as dumb as Bama fans. None of the comments I saw contained a complete sentence. Plus I'm pretty spell check costs extra for their phones.

What this actually displays is somehow the Bammers & Sooners have bridged the geographic gap and are interbreeding.

They seem like a bunch of short term memory basket cases to me.

Hey, they may beat the orange off our pants, but they had some pretty embarrassing losses last year. Seems to me like they are going out of their way to talk about how awesome they are when the truth is somewhere in The middle. Sort of like the loud mouth billy bad a55 at the bar who is sporting a big ol black eye.

What were their "bad losses"?

To a bowl qualifying TX team in Dallas that has recruited top 5 level talent annually? To a top ten high scoring Baylor team that was as explosive as Oregon? Were those bad losses?

Well, they were blown out by a Texas team that was so bad they replaced their coach.

That was a bad team by Texas standards, but it still won 8 games and was basically playing at home. Not the strict definition of a "bad" team.

Bama was just waiting for Sooners to quit, but when they played 60 minutes it caught them off guard.

Bowls game are a bit different, the teams can get the rest they need and game play for 1 opponent.

We may get the same overlook

I'd like to see history repeat itself like this with AJ or Cam.

Every fan base has it's idiots who know very little but continually make outlandish comments.

OU fans are, for the most part, extremely knowledgeable, but we have our share of dumb-a---s.

I have said this on other threads on this forum but the bigger worry about Knight is his health, not his skill. I expect him to continue to improve and while he may not have one individual game performance to rival the Sugar Bowl, if he is consistently good, OU's O will be potent, to say the least. Knight is a true dual-threat QB and when he takes off running, it's hold-your-breath time for all Sooners. He's got decent size @ 6'1" & about 200lbs but he has shown a tendency to suffer minor but debilitating injuries.

I expect OU to limit his actual carries out of the zone-read knowing that the threat of a running QB is all that really matters but there will be times when he will scramble out of a bad play and that is when bad things can happen.

You can expect us to build our O scheme around a punishing, down-hill running attack behind a veteran and huge O-line, an extremely talented FB/HB and a RB rotation of big, fast, & physical RB's. Knight will compound the problem with the "threat" of a running QB but where he will hurt you most is off of play-action. He throws really well on the run.
Right now, Soph. Alex Ross, 6'1", 221lbs., is running with the ones in practice but the expectation is that he will rotate with Keith Ford, who you saw in the Sugar Bowl. Ford, is also a Soph., @ 5'11", 202lbs. We have consistently rotated our RB's, even when we had AD toting the mail.

I wish we had the talent that bad Texas team had. The senior class was ranked #2 by 247 in 2010. The 2011 class was ranked #4 and the 2012 class #2. As strange as it may seem looking at the season Texas had, that Oklahoma game was no fluke from a talent perspective. That is what they were actually capable of, which is why Mack Brown was deservedly fired. They should have been in the NC conversation. Don't be surprised if Strong is able to contend for the Big-12 right away.

I think most fan bases are for the most part knowledgeable so I agree, that's what everyone says but the small sample you get on the internet seems to have a greater % of know-nothings who think they know everything.

I was @ the Texas game & while the score doesn't indicate it we were actually in the RZ mid-way through the 4th qtr. with a chance to pull even but Texas stopped us and went on to get a late score. There were several factors that affected the outcome of the game but no doubt, we lost and the Horns prevailed.

My last paragraph comments are based on fact and are not intended as a gauntlet thrown down. This, on paper, is the most talented OU squad since 2008. We shall see how things pan out. Injuries will no doubt play a key role & could be the difference in a nice 10-2 season and a spot in the semi-final playoff game. We have a very favorable schedule with home games vs K-State, Baylor, & Ok. State. Our three toughest road games will be WVU, TT, & TCU. The TT game in Lubbock comes right after our home game with the Bears so it could be a trap game for sure. The Red Raiders are tough to beat on the Llano Estacado. TCU in Ft. Worth will be a tough one as well.

Owen, give it up buddy. We enjoy talking football with rival fans but nobody wants to hear about how totally awesome jump kick cool you think your school is.

When visiting other teams forums you need to remember no one else in the country thinks your team is as awesome as you do. Yes OKlahomey is going to be good but you've been talking them up like they could beat the Browns. I'm sure you're a fun dude to have a beer with and I don't truly mean anything other than to rib you a bit. But give it rest man.

I think you are implying you will either go 10-2 or undefeated.

If your team starts believing in the trash Stoops is talking about the SEC, they will go into the game with UT overconfident and cocky. And that tends to get one a beating. OU is a sporadic team that tends to drop games they very well should win like you did with Texas last year and almost lost to a sub par TCU team at home.

This UT squad has something to prove this year and I wouldn't underestimate the potential based off a lackadaisical performance by a Bama team that was still butthurt about not going to the championship. It's football and anything can happen.
