After reading up in the big 12 I think I understand a little better now why our visiting sooner friends feel the need to talk ther team up so much.
The big 12 is honestly in a state of flux and once you scratch the surface it's easy to see why. Baylor, the 2013 champs played 6 games last year that most any d1 school in the country could win, got embarrassed by OKST, and then lost to central florida in their bowl game.
Like Baylor, Oklahoma played a cake walk out of conference schedule and never could seem to get going, and stay going, in the right direction. Basically their whole season was the bama win. If they had lost that game they would be heading into this season ranked 17-20.
I'm about to board a flight but in a nutshell, they are trying to convince themselves just as much as they are us. I still think we lose this game. But that's to be expected honestly
Vs any top 20 team this year.
Lately, the B12 has been in a state of flux. Historically dominated by OU and Texas, OU has at least been able to win with consistency (winning in 2008, 10, 12) but now we have had osu, baylor and ksu win in between those, so I can appreciate the perception that the B12 is in a state of flux. OU has to win it this year to keep that streak of winning every other year going. It's not because baylor played an easy schedule. But if you want to bring that into the fold, Baylor had the #14 SOS last season, and OU being 11-2 had the #4 SOS. You also said they beat 6 teams that almost any D1 school could beat. I wont even try to argue, even though I disagree. I will say this: every other D1 school in the country could NOT do this: baylor outscored their worst 6 opponents 442-86. Avg score of 73-14. It's not like they were barely escaping with wins here. Baylor's OOC was a wake walk, but they scored over 70 points a piece. OU's was no cake walk either, hello, they went and beat Notre Dame in South Bend! The first home loss since 2011.
Their whole season wasnt the bama win, it was the most important though.
Really? He threw for a 43% and 50% completion rating in 2 of his last 4 conference games and was pedestrian at best with zero passing TDs. Oh wait, he really whipped up on Kanas with 1 TD and 1 INT. You're sort of proving my point made above.
Actually he threw 43% and 50% in the FIRST 2 conference games, not the last 2. He also didnt play against kansas. So, I am not sure how he made your point if your post is full of inaccurate information. He played bad in the first two games through the air (thought he did run for 147). His next start wasnt until November against kstate with a 70% completion percentage, and 2 total touchdowns and another 82 yards on the ground. He is also undefeated as a starter. He has to be more consistent, but from what all the players and coaches say, his alabama performance is par for what they claim he does in practice.
