There’s a lot of football left to play. We all know college football is crazy every Saturday. Tennessee does their part and it’ll work out

ESPN is not a monolithic sports news company.

It is, rather, a collection of writers, producers, and on-air personalities who are each allowed to pursue their own angles and, to some extent, allegiances. ESPN the company, writ large, seems to believe that they can collectively achieve Objectivity if everyone just goes their own way and the audience adds it up.

Which is a long-winded way of saying, OP, you're wrong. ESPN isn't pursing an anti-Tennessee angle. Heather Dinch is -- but she has long been a self-appointed champion of the weaker P5 conferences, particularly, iirc, the ACC. Herbstreit doesn't honestly seem to be anti-SEC in his tweet so much as he's trying to be pro-PAC. Giving Oregon a little love, for whatever reason.

There are slights to be concerned about, but this isn't one of them, I don't think. It's just Heather Dinch being Heather Dinch and Kirk Herbrstreit continuing his weird 2022 wandering. Remember: we WANT Kirk to pick against us; we win that way.

Go Vols!

She thinks a 1 loss sec wouldn't get in but a 2 loss Lsu team is realistic that's crazy

Selecting a 2 loss team over any conference champ that has only 1 loss would be just wrong. So if LSU were to win out and the other 4 conference champs have less than 2 losses and being a conference champ is important - then UGA should be left out as well - leaving the SEC with no teams in the final four.

These folks are not thinking clearly or even how that looks. It is not just Tennessee - they do not like the SEC in general.

The article is doing its own share of spinning. Herbstreit gave a current poll. Michigan or tOSU will lose and fall. Oregon is less likely to win out than UT. TCU is unlikely to win out.

I think there are folks like Dinich who will do their best to keep UT out. UT needs some help to keep them from succeeding. That starts with UGA winning the SEC CG. UT could use a TCU loss as well.

Anybody here see LSU winning the SEC? I don't.

Hadn't even considered the possibility, until a guy named Carl mentioned it this morning.

I can see the cajuns leading a low scoring affair into the fourth quarter.

Unsure where Georgia gets points. No running backs. They beat us with a 5'9" walk-on throwing to a 5'8" 170 pound scrub player. LSU might have three physical enough DB's to stop UGA tight-ends with quickness.

I'm still thinking Georgia.

UGA's OL is better than LSU's DL. I think they run thru them and connect on PA passes just like they did all day against UT.

UGA's DL is better than LSU's OL. THey will also run thru them and get to Daniels. Daniels will have to run for 200 yards to keep it close.

LSU will have 3 losses and their whole narrative will have been just for watercooler talk.

Who cares what ESPN says. The pundits always kiss teams butts when things are going well but are quickly disrespecting at the slightest problem. TN had a rough game in a rough environment. They are still the team that earned the initial CFP #1 ranking, and are still a very good team with a good shot at the playoff.

First, Heather is a very well connected college football analyst. If my memory serves... she is also a georgia faithful and hommer. Keep that in mind.

Second, everything I've seen points this season towards the loser of o state and michigan. So, all that stuff you guys like to talk about those teams.... yeah, sooner or later you will get your shot. Get ready for it.

Oh, no, she is decidedly NOT an SEC fan. She really does not like the SEC, and particularly does not like that the SEC is stronger than all other conferences. She plays champion for the "underdog conferences" all the time.

She went to school at Indiana University. But iirc she has become closely aligned with the ACC thanks to many years of covering them.
