ESPN layoffs.

All true, but as we have discussed in another forum ... Disney is not a "dying" company. Due to political persuasions, their financial strife is overstated sometimes.

And I do hate to see McShay go. He gave pretty good NFL Draft analysis, without the ego trip that Kiper takes.

No, Disney isn't dying and I would think you'd agree I call out BS on both sides.

It would be much better if NPR actually tried to report the news than clearly lying for political reasons.

Agree re: Kiper and McShay. It appears they are grooming Miller to be Kiper's cheaper replacement.

I've loved ESPN and ESPN+: I'm not at all a fan of premium content, but for $10 a month you can watch any of a vast number of sports events--practically every in-season basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball match, pls pro soccer, SEC swimming, I assume a lot of college football games as well, and lots more--and if you miss anything live, watch it later.

Article is complete bullsh-t. Disney had revenue of 21.8 billion. After they paid all of their expenses, they had EARNINGS of 1.271 billion. Earnings is what you make after you pay all your expenses.

The NPR article headline attempted to overstate earnings by over 1700%....
Why on earth would any serious person take NPR as a legitimate source.

Hahaha Pollack got cut too.
People will learn one of these days it does not pay to try to paint Mr. Saban as a fool on national television. Love or hate the man, he is not one to be disrespected. He does not get even, he gets ahead. The Rules Committee, on field referees, National TV Networks, opponents it does not matter. Little Nicky has a Napoleon heart. Sorry Pollack, but you took it too far during the National Championship Game early this year. Good luck on NBC.

If you still believe ESPN is the world wide leader in sports you haven’t been paying attention.

It’s a political agenda ran network anymore.

I’m pretty sure Bally’s filed for bankruptcy. NBC is loading up on Peacock I think. They also just added a weekly Primetime B1G game and are rumored to be pursuing the NBA on NBC again .

Lol, there are plenty of politically based side talk during the games.
I disagree. At least not that I can recall off the top of my head. What I CAN recall off the top of my head is Troy Aikman criticizing the flyover as excessive before a game during Trump's term. On......Fox.

Well I have never been a fan of the man so there’s that.

College GameDay just became watchable again ... without the Georgia homer and his mascara.
Gameday is still hard to watch because they have drawn it out into a 3 hour soap opera with too many fluff pieces and filler content. The added length of gameday is one of the reasons that Pollack was there anyway. It is hard to watch the whole 3 hour show even when it's in Knoxville. They would be better off if they returned back to a 2 hour show or even 1 1/2 hours. IMO that would help keep things moving and add more urgency and excitement to the show.

They can have Bobby Kesling if they want.
He’s trying with his lack of enthusiastic calls. Sounds like an ESPN broadcast. He needs to take notes from Wilkerson or his predecessor on how to properly call a sporting event as the team network announcer.

Regarding NPR, I don’t expect any news outlet to be 100% objective or free of bias, humans are not wired that way.
But what I do expect is for outlets to be honest about their biases and own up to what everyone else sees as their obvious leanings. I could at least somewhat respect that.
I grew up in East Tennessee and spent a lot of time near Chattanooga. You had two newspapers then, the Chattanooga Times, which was the morning paper with a clear liberal slant, and the Chattanooga News Free Press (still the most unintentionally ironic and hilarious name for any newspaper in history IMO) with it’s afternoon conservative bend.
I read both. It helped me learn critical thinking and taught me a lot about political debate. No one exepected either paper to be anything other than what it was because neither pretended to be in any way above the fray as it were. News objectivity is an unattainable goal.

Wow, I hadn't realized that Disney was forced to sell Fox Sports to Bally (or that they had acquired it in the first place). It seems like you'd have to work at it to lose money with a sports channel but I guess I'm missing something.

I didn’t know that Disney owned it. I know that finding a way to watch Bally’s Sports was a pain in the ass if had recently cut the cord like our family .

They aren’t dying, but they are struggling. There’s been talk of them shutting down their Animal Kingdom park because of how much it costs to maintain it. They aren’t invincible.

They bought Fox Entertainment but maybe never took possession of Fox Sports -- they had to sell due to anti-trust concerns.
