ESPN Profit Plummets As Network Turns Left

Combination of cord cutters and going too left in politics....or even going political period.

It's mostly cord cutters but the politics certainly isn't helping.

Because they suck. SportsCenter is more about the show now than the actual coverage of sports.

Volnation (and Clay Travis) pretty much nailed this one. Most of us just want to watch sports. And we want sports highlights. And we want them minus any social or political commentary.

Not this again.

Southern political paranoia. This dumb topic as been exhausted a few times by the good 'ole boys who see political messages in their Cheerios. Give it a rest.

Probably the lowest point in the network's history as far as I'm concerned.

Please see my earlier post. If you don't think the whole "Kaitlyn Jenner" thing was pushing a political agenda you're blind!

It's still way more because of cord cutters; Travis mentions it like it's some small issue, but it's the main issue.

Have you ever seen some of their midday programming? It is straight garbage.
If you watch any kind of game on ESPNU it's a lot easier to watch with the sound on mute.
When the byproduct of your journalism is guys like Travis Haney your journalism is going in the tank.
And last people watch ESPN to watch sports. I will turn to a news or political channel if I want to watch politically slanted news or hear about some event that gets sensationalized. A sports channel needs to be a reprieve where we can get away from the craziness in the world and not just another place to have it shoved into our face yet again. ESPN has lost that and people are turning away from it.

This. It has nothing to do with politics. The conservative personality type is adverse to change, which means they most likely still have cable. I would say young millenials (who mostly aren't conservative) are the ones that are unsubscribing.

I cant speak for anyone else but for me ESPN has become to politically slanted. They are complete garbage when a game is not being televised. I suspended my cable account for six months right after the Super Bowl was played. Turns back on in August right before football season. I came to the realization I don't watch enough TV to keep it on other than football season. I went out and purchased the amazon Fire Stick and downloaded the Kodi app. Now I have access to anything and everything (movies and shows). Going forward this will be my method of TV. Have it on for football season and suspend it after football season. These six months of not having cable I will save $1000.

MAXs second post of examples ar3 a perfect reason they are gasping for air. If I turn on a cooking channel, I want to see food. If I turn on a sports channel, I want to see sports. Simple as that.

You always no matter what forum you're in throw in the southern jab. Where is it you live again??

To get Disney Jr. you have to get the package that has ESPN too, football is in the off season, and less sports are being shown.

Because liberalism is a mental disorder, and many Americans are tired of hearing their crap.

Period.

you mean rural rubes---yep, can't dispute that.

Cable packages are expensive--that and that alone is why 95 percent of people cut cable, the other 5 percent being paranoid Southerners who are the only people who seem to care about Jenner's gender identity. Clay Travis, or is it Travis Clay?--he's got two southern first names--is being more political than espn. He's an amateur journalist with an agenda who pushes the political reason for subscription decline when the real reason is financial. Perhaps Trump should hire him--dishonesty is the rule in the White House these days.

I have to laugh at those who decry espn's terrible daytime programming. Of course it is terrible--it is cable tv. All of cable tv is crap--except Duck Dynasty, of course! Right, fellers! They can't show live sports events 24/7. Who watches cable tv during the day, anyway?

Because ESPN is full of Social Justice Warrior a$$clowns, they're always wrong, and none of their shows have any of the appeal of old-school SportsCenter.

To put it simply, the network blows.

Why did you cut the cord?

Because I came to the realization that what I was spending for cable VS how much of it I was actually watching wasn't worth the money. Instead of spending 50.00 a month I now spend 15.00 a month with Hulu, Netflix, and Kodi (free).
