Spot on. The default channel for the last 30 years on my television was ESPN, especially SportsCenter ......6-8 months ago I finally said eff it, I'm never watching that ish again, ever. I make a conscious effort to never watch any of their channels unless I'm forced to watch a game there, and even then I won't watch any pregame and I turn it off the minute the game ends. I refuse to one second of their mess.

you mean rural rubes---yep, can't dispute that.

Cable packages are expensive--that and that alone is why 95 percent of people cut cable, the other 5 percent being paranoid Southerners who are the only people who seem to care about Jenner's gender identity. Clay Travis, or is it Travis Clay?--he's got two southern first names--is being more political than espn. He's an amateur journalist with an agenda who pushes the political reason for subscription decline when the real reason is financial. Perhaps Trump should hire him--dishonesty is the rule in the White House these days.

I have to laugh at those who decry espn's terrible daytime programming. Of course it is terrible--it is cable tv. All of cable tv is crap--except Duck Dynasty, of course! Right, fellers! They can't show live sports events 24/7. Who watches cable tv during the day, anyway?

The 70% of people who vote Democrat that don't work would be my guess.

I will agree on Clay Travis; he's basically doing the same thing towards right-wing leaning people by pandering to them.

In the past he used to really insult right-wingers and Southerners constantly, and now that he's paid attention to what has been going on, suddenly he panders to them non-stop. I'll give him props for recognizing what butters his bread, but just know he harps on this because of the dollars it brings him, not because he actually gives a crap. When/If the pendulum swings back the other way, he'll just switch sides again.

You're still paying for it.

And? I watch it sparingly for games when I have no choice. Their ratings continue to plummet and helping contribute there.

Actually, their live sports ratings are doing just fine. And that's where the bulk of their ad revenue comes from.

ESPN's problem is cord-cutting, plain and simple. They are no longer making money off the folks who don't care about live sports.

Agreed. It's all good brother, we're all Vol fans....well, most of us.

Some are more bored than others. Some are more boring than others. Some don't even try. Some others try too hard.

I've got no issue with trolls, it's the pretenders that I've got no use for, many act like they aren't on here, but my paranoid self won't ever believe that.

What is the deal?

Regardless of where you stand, ESPN is taking up a radically left position on social issues without any balance. In fact, they've fired guys for being politically incorrect. They're free to take a stand as they see fit... but there are consequences when you show that kind of antagonism for the values of at least half of your clientele.

Not this again.

Southern political paranoia. This dumb topic as been exhausted a few times by the good 'ole boys who see political messages in their Cheerios. Give it a rest.

And yet other networks aren't seeing such dramatic declines? MSESPN has no idea who their audience is. Most of their hardcore viewership are in red states and are tired of their agenda.

Yeah, and I watch their live sports when forced to and that's about it. Guessing I'm not alone.

I will say I think both cord cutters like myself and their focus on the left have a hand in it. However, to pretend that shift to the left isn't hurting their views is moronic.

Live sports is all I ever watch, and I'm not forced to do it. ESPN does a really good job, particularly with college football. There are a few commentators that I don't care for, but they are rarely bad enough to completely ruin the broadcast.

I avoid them because they've become way too political. I don't want sports and politics together. I do my best to stay away from politics in general.

I don't follow SC on Facebook anymore because of that. I get most of my sports news from B/R, and even they get political at times.
This is EXACTLY why they're taken a HUGE hit. Call Target stores and ask what happens when you FORCE politically correct obsurdsness down people's throat. I NEVER watch or read anything associated with ESPN and only watch when UT is playing. I RARELY ever go to movies anymore because Hollywood not only has lost their mind but want me to lose my as well. Political correctness is not just offensive it's a DISEASE!!!!

...and now for a non-guano based explination.

People are tired of playing 100 bucks a month for cable when there are much more reasonable options combined with the accessibility of the internet.

The scope of what they've built is no longer necessary.

and you if think ESPN's ratings are tanking, looking at FS1's ratings will redefine the term.
