ESPN reporter insults parking lot attendant

Right. I was parked where I shouldn't have. So, paid up and left. Not a difficult concept to embrace.

Also not too difficult to see the difference in illegally parking in a fire zone opposed to parking in the lot of a restaurant that you were a patron at. Though apparently not as easy for some.

I also don't know if I'm 100% willing to say it's justified to take a person's car and hold it for ransom because they parked in a fire zone. IMO a $75-$100 ticket would be a far more appropriate punishment for the crime and just as effective of a deterrent.

My small minded comment (narrow might have been a better word) was in relation to focusing on the incident itself and who it involved, rather than the fact that the insults should have never been hurled regardless of who they were thrown at.

By the way, your avy creeps me out everytime I see it. What in the world is that??

It's a picture from a Tool album from like 20 years ago.

That's fair... This girl supposedly ate at the restaurant from which her car was towed.

I'm not justifying her rant but I would be incensed if a place I did business with let my car get towed. Of course I would probably take it up with the restaurant first.

It looks like the restaurant is 100% in on it. So I'm guessing she went off on the restaurant and they didn't do a damn thing. So she found her car missing, she got no help from the restaurant, and she was most likely at her wit's end by the time she got to the predatory towing company's front desk.

Sounds like the restaurant owner and towing company have a nice little racket going.

Is there any update on this story or another angle?

Here's why ESPN insult artist Britt McHenry's car was towed, according to report | NJ.com

Advanced Towing removed the car from the lot shortly after the restaurant closed.

I love how it's now the reporters fault that the poor single mother (a fact that couldn't be more irrelevant) has been unable to return to her job collecting ransoms because of all the publicity.

First of allÂ… I have an extremely hard time believing that is even true. If it is though, she has no one to blame but herself and her partners in crime. Unless their surveillance system is set up as a direct feed to TMC, it means that they're the ones who made this video public.

That rant shows she's a lot more than "dumb".

The consensus seems to be the girl behind the counter deserved it. That bothers me.

She edited the video and shopped it around to various news outlets for days. Everyone turned her down except the dumpy website Deadspin. That's vengeful

That's when you take your gripe to Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media you use. If the restaurant starts losing customers they'll change their practices.

Hunan Number One is not responsible if your car is towed from the parking lot. It is complimentary parking for customers and employees of the entire building and is managed by the County of Arlington. ...
Attention Customers: Please don't leave your car here overnight!

According to that article, this is a sign inside the restaurant. If true (a big if btw, as that article is nothing short of garbage), it means that the restaurant is not only not responsible but also at least tries to warn people of the predators that lurk outside.

I'm sure the sign is there, but that's beside the point. It doesn't discuss how long she was parked. Maybe she was going back to the car 15 minutes after Hunan closed? There's a difference between being parked after the restaurant closed and parking there overnight. I'd venture to guess that they start putting cars up right after close, not 5 hours later. To them, there's no need to differentiate between the two because they make more money if they tow the cars immediately.

Also I love it when people drop that hollow threat that they'll stop watching ESPN if they don't fire her. Like I dare you to call your cable provider and cancel ESPN. I'll wait.

Also Also how messed up is it that the city oversees towing from restaurants and bars and also has a police department tasked with stopping drinking and driving

Oh I completely agree. I was just pointing out that, if true, the restaurant doesn't appear to be involved In the shakedown.

Very first thing that came to my mind as well. This will undoubtedly make people think twice about leaving their car and taking a taxi.

Although I suppose it's only messed up if you operate under the assumption that DUI laws are in place to prevent drunk driving.

People hate being held accountable for their actions. If the tow companies don't have a reason to tow you, they won't. Cops would catch the same crap (heck, some do) constantly for writing speeding tickets if they didn't have the power to arrest you. Don't speed = no ticket. The same applies for parking your car. Quit being a baby, learn your lesson and pay the money you owe. I'd feel like a failed parent if my daughter talked to someone like that for any reason.

Did you know we never landed on the moon, and missiles hit the twin towers. Vaccinations are only there to hurt us.
