According to ESPN, Pearl is secure in his job and has no fear of being fired. Guess that settles all the speculation about his future. Apparently UT told him he would not be fired if no new findings came out of the investigation.

Guess he thinks the NCAA penalties won't be much.

I doubt that.

The NCAA cant fire the coach. That has to be done by the school. If he was to be fired then it would have been done by now.

Plus everyone seems to think the punishment won't be bad based on the decision on Calhoun.

If the NCAA slaps a year coaching ban or NCAA tourny ban - You may see TN change its tune. But if neither of those come down, Pearl will stay.

Bruce Pearl's income over the last few years + Total Money Makeover = No fear of being fired. Clearly this is what he meant.

If he is suspended for a year, and we keep him...I will be very unhappy.

Y would u be unhappy??? No way we could get a coach near Bruces level to come where right now..even if bruce did get suspended say 1 year..our program would still be way above what we were before Pearl got here.

Because you put the coach ahead of the program, and while Bruce has done a good job here, he's isn't John Wooden, or Adolph Rupp, or Dean Smith, or Coach K. He's a good coach that can be replaced. I don't want to waste a season because our idiot coach lied to NCAA investigators and tried to lie about it. Plus it would look terrible on the program.

Long time reader, first time poster. This is really very simple. The most influential booster family at UT now also occupies the most powerful office in the State - UT is an entity of the State.

The Governor was behind the bench at the game in Nashville. Pearl, who publicly endorsed Haslam, was in fact looking for him after the game. If the Haslams support Bruce, which everything shows they do, then he will be the coach. Now I'm not saying whether it's right or wrong or that they may not change their mind. It is what it is.

Also, if anyone thinks there's no dealing going on behind the scenes between the most influential boosters and the NCAA, they just don't understand politics, Knoxville culture, and what really goes on at UT.

Bruce Pearl is the man...Hope he stays a vol forever

Amen Brother.................:lolabove:

I hope he stays regardless of what the NCAA does and I hope it pisses the Pearl Haters off so bad they become Alabubba Fans.I think most of us are not so self righteous and believe people deserve a second chance. He certainly has done more good for UT basketball than bad and certainly more than the posters that spew their disdain for him.He also does good things around the community that is not expected or known by a lot of people. He is not perfect but in my 46 years I have yet to meet the first person that is.Most people that love to tear down others are usually either jealous or hypocrites.I hope he goes to the tanning bed and paints himself orange when the Lady Vols go to the Final Four................:clapping:
