ESPN says Texas A&M, Mizzou, Clemson, FSU to join SEC

Not sure about specifics, but the story I've always heard is that the ACC was basically run by the 4 North Carolina schools and SC got tired of not having a voice in the conference so they went independent.

Googled it, and that's more or less the gist of it. The Tobacco Road schools were calling the shots with everything, and tilting the field in their favor in anything they could manage. Clemson was supposed to leave at the same time but backed out last second.

I used to work for a company based in Columbia and oddly enough they always said it was a basketball decision more than anything and was a huge mistake.

Regarding the Big 12. In the money aspect of the conferece. What is the tier 1, tier 2, tier 3? What is that exactly in regards to money for the schools?

You don't know what you are talking about.

They are already reporting that Clemson is likely to join the SEC.

Really?

So the SEC doesn't have a large market in South Carolina?

Who is "they"?

Are "they" the same ones that reported Les Miles would no doubt take over at UM for Lloyd Carr? Texas to the PAC-16?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

REPORT FROM BIG 12 CONFERENCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

IRVING, TX -- The Big 12 Conference Board of Directors conducted a teleconference meeting today to discuss the future of the Conference given recent developments regarding Texas A&M University. The Board strongly conveyed to Texas A&M its unanimous desire that it remain a Big 12 member, and acknowledged its value to the Conference. The Board noted that Texas A&M expressed concerns about institutional networks and that the athletics directors worked together and took actions, which the Board has approved, to adequately address those concerns. The other nine members reaffirmed their long term, unconditional and unequivocal commitments made to each other and the Conference last summer. Although the Board hopes Texas A&M remains in the Conference, the Board is prepared to aggressively move forward to explore expansion opportunities. In doing so, the Board recognizes the strength of the Big 12 Conference national brand and the opportunity to capitalize on it.

Got this off a MIzzou board.

Good info, thanks, missourivol. Too add, ESPN recently read this on air.

:loco:

One time about 10 years ago one of our basketball players shot one of his teammates in the head and our head coach Dave Bliss tried to cover it up.....oh you meant football stories....one time about three years ago 2 buses full of old people broke down at the stadium and the people got free admission to the game and that put the attendence up to 68 for the game and that was a new Baylor football record.
Attendance huh...lol. Check out FREE taco night at Reed Arena. Texas Longhorns Photo Gallery - Texas A&Mand they still didn't come. So tell me why Turg bolted to Maryland (he paid for the tacos)??? Link to bus pix please.

One time an Aggie designed a bonfire to collapse Aggie Bonfire on Modern Marvels - YouTube (sharpened pencils stacked one on top of the other???)??? If only they had a (nationally) ranked Enginerring Dept. Link to bus photos please?????

Whew, four new teams.

It's like another division almost. Four strikes me as too many, but I was scared to death there would never be another SEC NC when we went divisional + SECCG. I was convinced TN could never win another NC. For the GoF and acolytes, it's hope I can get one wrong every now and then. :)

In a way, this is also a reflection of bourgeois society: centralization and concentration. It's the last thing we need in our society at this stage. Polytheism, decentralization, dilution are the key needs of the new society.

I didn't say the SEC doesnt have a large market in South Carolina, I said if they add Clemson they will have the entire market in that state. "they" is Pat Forde and the rest of the ESPN people, and I will take their info over the crap that you make up.

The bonfire collapsing wasnt intensional. A player shooting a teammate in the head and the coach covering it up is.

How many of those people that go to the Baylor game on taco night are legally in this country. I was only counting the paid, legal attendence.

Unfrozen...thank you for your post.

I went to A&M as a freshman in 1975...and have been exposed to Baylor Bear 'trash' for a long, long time. The one thing I've come to accept is that many Baylor fans are a classless lot...and the advent of internet message boards has reconfirmed that thought. One only has to read Volnation, TexAgs, or Hornfans to recognize that truth.

Jeremy Self was a member of the Corps of Cadets, and was one of the 12 who was killed in the bonfire collapse. Though I never knew him, I felt compelled to attend his wake, as I lived within 20 minutes of the funeral home. I'll never forget the pain his father must have felt...I just can't imagine burying one of my children.

Thanks again for taking a stand for reason.

Welcome to the SEC. Texas A&M is a great addition. Baylor is a toilet team. We don't want them. They belong in the WAC. Thanks for hitting me up. Look forward to reading your posts in the future.BTW that was a scum bag move for that Baylor fan to make fun of that horrible accident at the bonfire.:salute:

RT @OSIJJ: Hearing the #SEC vote on #TAMU is done and went 11-0 in favor of adding the Aggies.
A&M passed muster with the SEC Presidents. A&M's Board of Regents meet Monday at 3PM. A formal announcement will not be made until Tuesday.

Also hearing that Missouri has been given a deadline of sometime today(Sunday) to let the SEC know if it wants to join the SEC.
