ESPN says Texas A&M, Mizzou, Clemson, FSU to join SEC

Is this thing going downhill really fast and no one is coming.

Orangebloods.com - Big 12 ADs pledge unity as A&M stares down SEC

Dissection time...

But the Aggies will not go off to the SEC without some questions directed at both Texas A&M and Mike Slive, the commissioner of the SEC.

These were discussed well before now. If not, Slive and ATM are morons.

There appear to be real legal questions from the Big 12 about the SEC's role in A&M's apparent decision to leave the Big 12 and if tortious interference is involved in possibly breaking the Aggies' contracts with their current television partners.

See above and what about NU and the Big 10 from last year? Threats and nothing further.

Multiple sources said the 13-year Fox television deal signed by the Big 12 in April for $1.17 billion can be voided if Texas A&M leaves. The sources said if the SEC, which has had ongoing conversations with Texas A&M since Mike Slive was on the College Station campus during last summer's realignment, could be seen as the instigator in A&M's actions, it could constitute a $1 billion lawsuit against the SEC as well as a lawsuit for damages against individuals involved.

Remember the USFL?

O.K., I am done, the article is sensationalsism at its best. threats and the big 12 being butt hurt at the thought of a couple of other teams leaving.

Well apparently you know more than the sources inside the universities and the reporters that are getting all of this info. BTW what are you hearing?

BUBear. Feel free to share pics/experiences of what makes a Baylor gameday so special. I enjoy learning about other school's traditions and seeing their facilities, and admittedly don't know too much about Baylor.

One time about 10 years ago one of our basketball players shot one of his teammates in the head and our head coach Dave Bliss tried to cover it up.....oh you meant football stories....one time about three years ago 2 buses full of old people broke down at the stadium and the people got free admission to the game and that put the attendence up to 68 for the game and that was a new Baylor football record.

Aggie fans are saying on their board that it's a good thing that there is no "new" news today on the Texas A&M front. A lot are still expecting to be announced to the SEC on Monday.

I don't like it. I understand why they would want to join the best conference in college football, but I'm not sure why the SEC would want some of these teams

I agree. I'm ok with adding FSU and A&M but Mizzou and Clemson baffle me, especially Clemson. Pretty sure they bring nothing to the table, at least Mizzou brings a new TV market which is apparently what matters most in all this.

If we dont get Texas and Oklahoma, what have we gained other than a few viewers in certain cities on gameday? Which reminds me, does A&M control the Houston TV market..or do Texas and Oklahoma control the Houston TV market? My bet is on Texas and Oklahoma.

Adding Clemson and Mizzou will not impact contract negotions with ESPN. If the SEC added Texas and Oklahoma, every TV network would be throwing money at Slive's feet.

I guess I just don't understand why we are in such a hurry to add teams like Clemson and Missouri. A&M is questionable because of what I mentione in the 2nd paragraph about the TV market. I like the thought of FSU being in the SEC. I'll be disappointed in the SEC if we don't get Texas and Oklahoma.

Clemson has an enormous fan base. If you bring them in you lock down the state of South Carolina as far as revenue goes. Mizzou is a solid program as of late. Their market value is big.Btw you can forget Texas and Oklahoma. They will never come here. Texas wont take that pay cut.

Texas isn't going anywhere other than independent!....several can't seem to stress that enough here

And as someone else here put it

I'm not about to read all 22 pages of this thread so thanks for the quote. I'd rather have OU and OSU than Clemson and FSU but geographically it doesn't really make sense to add 4 western teams.

Then again... it would be nice to add OU, OSU, A&M, Mizz and FSU. We might have to drop Vandy but I don't think anyone would mind. Pretty sure Kimbrow would rethink his decision.
