ESPN says Texas A&M, Mizzou, Clemson, FSU to join SEC

Here is Travis' latest post.........Clay Travis
For those asking, Mike Slive governs by near unanimity. Don't believe he would add team with more than one dissent.

I think it's safe to say A&M is a done deal.

At least A&M fans will fit in with the bammers

I don't like it. I understand why they would want to join the best conference in college football, but I'm not sure why the SEC would want some of these teams

TAMU, Mizzou, Virginia Tech, NC State...

-expands conference footprint
-expands recruiting base
-expands corporate reach
-expands tv markets
-doesn't infringe on any current school's "territory".

More money and new access to millions of people for sponsorships, ads, TV contracts, etc.

does anyone else think we just drop USCjr and add A&M? how awesome would that be..........
No current SEC is going to get dropped and Vandy can never be forced out. They are a charter member of the SEC and are granted permanent membership should they opt to keep it intact..

What does FSU and Clemson bring to the conference money wise?? We own those markets but we do not own the OKC and St. Louis markets which is why I think OU, OSU, and Mizzou will be the teams added

Clay Travis is reporting that Fla., S.C, and Georgia will be voting against expansion in their respective states. He just posted this on FB.

Oh to heck with it. Just add Grambling State University and Virginia State University, think outside the box. Probably leads to a giant influx of African-American attendance and PPV viewers. $$$

Don't like that? fine, try Ohio University or Missouri State University. Probably less money but either way ends the hee-ing and haw-ing.

Racist.

I understand the arguments for ATM but I'm not for Missouri under any circumstances. They aren't even a southern university. They don't fit the SEC profile. Even the B10 didn't want'em. Hell, why not just invite tOSU. Columbus Ohio is closer to more SEC schools than Columbia MO. If most SEC fans won't bother to make the trip to Fayettville what makes anyone think they'd want to drive to Columbia? Since Slive is apparently willing to nuke the conference he might as well go big by adding ATM, UNC, Duke, and either FSU/VT/Clemson and institute 4 N/S/E/W divisions.

ATM - I think enough people have made the case for their inclusion

UNC & Duke - Adds another state and are national names. I'd wager Duke sells more merchandise than MSU, OleMiss, and Vandy combined. In combination with UK they could make the SEC the new Big East in b-ball.

FSU - National brand that's been down a few years but is on the rise. Fits the SEC profile.

Clemson - wouldn't rock the boat or make the conference prohibitively difficult but would be solid mid-level addition. Clemson is an obvious fit culturally.

VT - See Clemson. Adds another state to the conf.
