ESPN says Texas A&M, Mizzou, Clemson, FSU to join SEC

In that case Maryland makes a lot more sense.

The Terps bring nothing to the table in football or market share. Hokies bring much more and they are a competitive football school that will give you more viewers and better ratings game in and game out than the Terps. The TV networks win out and the advertisers win out also. All about that dollar bill.

Times are changing and I don't like it but if we have to expand those four teams make sense Two in west and two in east Sure makes for long road trips ( college station ) Don't know about Missouri I thought they would go to big ten I understand the sooners and cowboys will go to pac ten

Anyone know what Clay Travis is hinting at?

Let me just say this -- and I'll expand upon it next week -- the ACC is not as stable as some of y'all think.

And it may not be the SEC that's causing all the instability.

I hope there's nothing to the mentions of Texas Tech. I think I'd rather have Wake Forest than them.

Bring in Texas A&M, plus Vir Tech..
Wonder if any teams woulds leave the SEC for smaller conferences..
Vandy has no hope of winner anything in football, ever. same for Kentucky and Miss state..
I can see the Big 12 ( or whatever the number is) falling apart and Texas with its big TV deal for 20 years, becoming an independant, ala Notre Dame.
Vandy could move to the ACC, for its bball hopes.

SEC would then welcome Fla ST.
ACC becomes weakest football conference and only plays basketball..

I think this sucks! It's all about the money these days. Call me old fashioned but I like the sec the way it is. All these TV deals and money talks scare me. They're gonna ruin college football. Before you know it, players will be mad because the schools are making so much money and they will get greedy. The NFL has enough of this problem. The major thing that makes college sports so great to me is the fact that it's still amateur football. There's not as much of a business part to it like the NFL. Now the past five years or so it seems to be headed that direction. College football will never be the same as I remember it growing up.

The Baltimore and D.C. markets aren't a big deal?

I don't even know why this has to be asked. Of course Maryland brings something to the table. Blacksburg is in backwater ass Virginia and College Park is within 30-45 minutes of two large east coast cities. Hmm... wonder which one brings more to the table, market-wise?

it would be kinda messed up to take all these teams from other conferences when the SEC is already the beast it is

A&M and another east team from a state that isnt already represemted in the SEC and were set

or if its FSU or clemson i guess thats fine but id like mizzou or va tech

Can you imagine what the fans thought when Neyland opened up the passing game, geez. Probably whats in bold, and it happened in the 50's, 70's, 80's 90's and now. So its a reciprocating issue. I understand, but college football is not going to be ruined. If you want to blame someone, blame Roy Kramer for expanding to 12 teams and changing the face of college football by having a championship game.

the ACC has coastal and atlantic for division names...

They should name the SEC Divisions, after prominent coaches:

Neyland
Bryant
Rupp
Broyles

If the SEC has more than 14 teams I'll be surprised. Believe that TAMU will join. Should know by Monday. As far as FSU, not sure, but only talk at presemt based on all that I've read in the papers. If FSU does, what a better conference with FSU on board. If FSU does become a member, it wouldn't be right to have FSU and the Gators in the same division but there is no way around it. TAMU in the West with Bama, LSU. Believe that LSU and BAMA have had TAMU on their schedules before and Arkansas used to play all those Texas teams when in the Southwest conference.

IF VPI and FSU would become members along with TAMU or another team, I believe that 2-3 teams would move out, possibly Vandy (where they would be more competitive-especially in bball) and MSU. MSU, as far as I can remember only wins the west in football once every 12-15 years-the last in 1998. How would VPI stack up against LSU, Bama, and the Gators or any other team-Vols, UGA, Arkansas, Auburn? I can only see a possibility of 14 teams max at present. Anyone else agree or disagree?

If TAMU, Clemson, FSU, and Mizzou join the SEC, look for the Big 12 to attempt to add VT, Miami to save their conference. The ACC will become a basketball conference again. I could also see Texas, OU, OSU, and Texas Tech or Baylor joining the PAC 12 if they don't save their conference. I don't like the expansion. The NCAA should step in and prevent this. If this happens, we will have 2 super conferences and the Big 10, Big East, and the ACC as subpar conferences. They will add teams like TCU, Texas Tech, Georgia Tech, UVA, and so on and will be no more entertaining than the Big East is now.

The SEC won't be the only 16 team conference, just the first.

I feel that you are correct about this. The next 2-3 years the landscape of college will look different.

When I was growing up ( born 1958 ) you got one game a week on abc maybe two for big game out west. Then came CFA which let to more games on tv.

Next came jp,tbs and espn more games thus more money. Then came conference growth and death ( SWC ) conference championship games and BSC.

Now super conferences of 16 teams or more. I think this will lead to a playoff between conference champs.
