got the skinny on Wolf from a coach friend in SW Ohio that actually saw him play his sophomore year. Has followed him his junior year on film because he thinks he is a star in the making. He called me to tell me the news because he thought it was huge. He told me the kid is absolutely hands down the best "TRUE" TE in the Midwest and a top 5 TE in the country. He is a legit 6-6" 240 not like so many other recruits who tell stories on their measurables. He is a 3 sport star so his upside when CBJ gets a hold of him is frightening. Big, tough, high character guy who can catch, run, block and again after reading his articles on all the sites he is indeed a class act. I guess he brought in the brick and that is so cool.
I am a graduate student and new to this but man the guy that has issues with a guy like this coming from a talent rich state like Ohio is a huge win for CBJ. My buddy also told me OSU is recruiting just receiving TE's and don't look for that complete 3 tool TE that can do it all. I mentioned the star ratings and all of that and he laughed and said that Wolf is suddenly a better player in a month when the new ratings come out and he goes to a 4 star in rivals? He is a 4 star #7 in the country by Scout so what gives? What we have here is a top 10 talent in the country at the very minimum to a program that is trying to win again from a State that holds its talent in the Big Ten. This IMO is a bigger win than getting in state 4 star talent to stay and play for their school in the SEC. I was also told that if he committed he will not decommit for any reason because he hears he is a high high character guy from a solid family.
Go get em Wolf.....you sound like a winner on and off the field!!
watched this kids video. I don't get impressed by high school videos but this kid looks like a real stud. He pancaked everybody within 5 yards of him as a blocker, and caught the ball, took the hit and plowed forward on his catches. I know that these videos are designed to show the kids best moments but that video goes on forever and he is dominating on every single second on every single play. this kid has more than potential.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it on here or not, but Minster High School, where Wolf is from plays in the lowest division in Ohio football. There are 6 divisions in Ohio Football, 1 being the highest and 6 being the lowest. Having said that, Minster plays in the Midwestern Athletic Conference (MAC), which is known state wide, if not country wide for their excellence in sports, particulary football. A few years ago another team in the MAC, Coldwater played a Youngstwon Cardinal Mooney team in the state finals. Youngstown was rated #1 in the state in all divisions, and top 5 in the country at the time. Lets just say this game proved the MAC's dominance as Coldwater beat Youngstown and made news all across the country.
My point in all of this is that Wolf is from a small farm town (3000 people), but football in the MAC is like football in the SEC, you have to bring it every game. I have seen Wolf play not just in football, but in basketball and have seen him win a state championship as the starting catcher on the baseball team two years in a row now. He is definately a winner and wish him the best of luck at UT.
