I know a lot of us joke about Phil, but I still love all of the positive things he did at UT. I think this would be a great move for both him and ETSU. Good luck if true Coach

I was wondering the same thing. I would imagine it would depend on student enrollment numbers, location, program support and funding.

I seriously doubt UT will be dropping out of the SEC to join the A-Sun or SOCON

Not sure if this is true but I would love to see it. PF would garner the support and publicity needed for such a task. He would surely get help from guys like Witten who are from that part of the state, and would likely hire a staff of former Vols who would be able to recruit and connect with players. I would love to see him get that program going again and he would do all kinds of stuff for his legacy. I would even speculate that if was successful in this, he would be the next AD at UT.

You mad? I don't find it interesting because PF is old news & if he goes there to coach...hey, look that's great. I guess there are fans that still love PF & what he did for the program. Just leave it there & let it go. Talk to your ETSU friends about it on tweeter of what conference you end up. Nobody cares about that conference in general. This is a TN Vols board not ETSU news board.

And in case you have been under a rock there not that much good vols news to talk bout since phil left. Believe me im all vol an would kill for it to turn around but when i get on here and its always bad news such as not even being able to hold on to j graham, i think its great to here some good news about phil,whether it be a new coaching job at etsu or owning his own krispy creame !

I've poked fun at Phil and thought his firing needed to be done but the good things he did for UT far outweigh any bad. Being a resident of the Tri Cities, this would be huge for ETSU. Fulmer is very popular in this area and the people that cant make Saturday trips to Neyland would more than likely go to Buc games. If this happens and ETSU goes back to the SoCon, he could recruit the kinda kids that could win that conference. As I said in a previous post, an outdoor stadium is a must. People hated watching games in the dome. Even basketball games suck there. They should just play BB games in Brooks Gym. They would fill it up and be a lot louder. Like Cameron Indoor.
