I was not offended by Twitter or ESPN but it was sad to see the comments on here by supposedly Vol fans.
Too many calls for a lawsuit in this situation. That’s a huge problem in America. This just isn’t litigation worthy, IMO. A public apology should be fine and a reprimand by ESPN on the announcers for making the comments without substantiation would be bonus. Move on and play ball.
Don’t put any of the on UT or coaches. They said he was not available and it would be updated after game. People chose to make up stuff or believe rumors or think the worst. Those people should be ashamed. Additionally, if you think your statement would have changed things you are wrong. This could have all been avoided with a better announcement.
"Evan Russell is ill and won't be available for tonight's game. He is day to day on his return."
Him not being with team made things look suspicious. But maybe he lit up the bathroom and it was best for everyone involved.Nah. More likely a.stomach virus. There's one going around. Both me and my wife had it. Knocks you for a loop for 48-72 hours. Explains the sudden nature of things with Russell better than all this tripe being thrown around IMO.
Evan should retain counsel and sue ESPN, and Troy Eklund for slander. Should also sue the Arky fan David Marts for libel.
Clearly this is slander and libel. ESPN should be made to pay $$$$$$ for this garbage. F Them.
I detest all of it. Most on here love the VOLS and have there back no matter what. Some get there feeling hurt for a fielding error and God forbid a lose. I have always tried to treat all VOL athletes as family. We all make mistakes but for the media to put this out on national service is nuts.I was not offended by Twitter or ESPN but it was sad to see the comments on here by supposedly Vol fans.
Understood and I apologize if that verbiage offended or disrespected you or anyone else. It is just a saying I've said for a long time when someone gets destroyed in anything whether it's a tackle, crossover, mic dropping jokes etc. I appreciate being able to still have civil and mature conversations with people. It is something that unfortunately is hard to come by these days. Go Vols beat Campbell!1- cool
2- awesome job on being sober, no jokes.
3- I didnt mean to make light of mental plights or issues. Just no need to make comments about body bags, etc even in jest.
I put it squarely on whoever put the statement out.Don’t put any of the on UT or coaches. They said he was not available and it would be updated after game. Gotcha. So your okay if I call you a pedafile as long as I apologize the next day.Too many calls for a lawsuit in this situation. That’s a huge problem in America. People need to take responsibility for their actions. Perhaps firing Eklund may be too harsh but he certainly should be removed from live network broadcasts. He exercised at the very least very poor decision making. I’m a free speech advocate but If ever there were a reason for banning someone from Twitter, the Arkansas troll who originally started this malicious rumor should be banned. It appears he is not remorseful so it would serve him well to have his platform removed.
