Yes, we still keep the vast majority of our advantages but batting last and being able to walkoff opponents is not something to be taken lightly. The flip side is we get to bat first and get to bat all 9 innings no matter how far up we are. We built pretty comfortable leads all through the region no matter when we were batting.Thats simply the color of the jersey when playing at home. We even kept our dugout during the regionals. So if thats the case i dont mind it
Just wish they would get the home team visiting team fiasco straightened out. Tennessee was the visiting team in 2 of three games played as a #1 seed.
Thoughts on Tennessee's next opponent?
Calling balls, strikes, strikes balls .... very inconsistent. Killed an ECU rally in the 9th with his inconsistent strike zone IMO.
Ultimately, NCAA put thier faith in Wake Forest and they lost.I'm a little upset with the NCAA , not the opponent. They are the NCAA darlings, cinderalla team and I think the game times is a sign of this. What better way to help alleviate a home crowd, than to schedule start times totally unfriendly and convenient to the home crowd. I just hope the umpires are not like the ones two years ago against ND. Maybe my Umpire experience made me judge them more, but they came here with an agenda. It was clear from day one when the crew chief ran in from 2nd base to toss our pitching coach before he could go 3 steps. They were determined to squelch our teams "attitude". IF you remember we hit poorly, which happens a lot when the umpire strike zone is so inconsistent, and it forces the batter to swing at pitches they normally wouldn't. Can't take the change of a terrible strike call. Yes, it does affect a hitter. No doubt who the butt hurt ncaa wants to win this series. Tony V should use this as a motivator and the hell with the ncaa.
when you go to buy a horse, especially an older one, you check their mouth/teeth before you purchase. If it's a gift, don't insult the giver by checking out the freebie...so don't complain if you are gifted an 'easy' opponent which Evansville isn't IMHO.Per my Grandpa, "never look a gift horse in the mouth."
Haven't an idea what that means but seemed like a good time to throw it out there.
Yes, that’s correct. But all those ACC teams on our side look pretty good to me.Looking at this schedule, it appears Tennessee won't have to face an SEC team until the finals (assuming they advance, of course) - is that correct? If that's true, while it would be a good thing overall, an SEC team is also likely to make the finals in the other bracket, meaning they could win the whole thing if Tennessee isn't there. Puts some pressure on for sure. It would suck to watch yet another SEC team win a natty.
So what exactly is the rule? A #1 seeded team has earned the right to play 2 of 3 games as the home team..IMO.That is just the way the rules are written for everyone.
We could be the visiting team two out of three again this upcoming weekend.
With that said, I prefer to be in the orange shoes vs that Barney team's purple loafers.

Good point!Well, off the top of my head, Christian Moore and Blake Burke were bench bats on that 2022 team. Can't say we have anything close to studs like them as bench bats for 2024.
I'm not really sure. Stay confused because the system seems to change depending upon how far you advance.S

I seriously think that they changed the rule July 2023 to no coin flip H-A-H by seedingI'm not really sure. Stay confused because the system seems to change depending upon how far you advance.
But, this weekend, we are home on Friday, visitors on Saturday, flip a coin on Sunday.
I agree with your opinion.
