Even though we won, games like this piss me off.

Whether anyone here wants to admit it or accept it, he has carried this team this year. He's had a few bad games but who doesn't. Without his offense this team would really be hurting.

The problem with Hopson is he doesn't get a clean slate with people. They judge him on his ranking coming out of high school instead of appreciating him for what he's done. It's unfair to him.

It's not 15 games into his first year. He's not a freshman. It is what it is.

He's had plenty of time to shut up the naysayers. For as much as he has carried the team, he also has been a non-factor too many times. Such is life with an inconsistent star.

And he's also having a very solid junior year. If the season ends today he's probably first team all-sec. People here act like he's the worst player in the league and want him gone. Ridiculous.

Just because of the way that Hopson played. It just pisses me off that he plays like this, and next game (sat) he'll probably act like he's never played the game before.. Why can he not do this every game.

yeah I agree 110% got to hate it when the 19 and 20 year olds dont preform like kobe and jordan everynight.

And those people are nuts. The sooner everyone realizes its a coin toss on how he plays, the better it will be.

He's been far more consistent this year than in past years. People here are way too quick to point out a bad night (as is evidenced by this thread) than to give him credit for his good performances. And there have been a lot more good performances this year than bad. A lot.

But he's not going to get the admiration or be crowned king with those shoddy games. No matter the good ones. Until he gets more consistent you'll always here the "yea, but" argument with him.

If this kid didn't come in as the fifth ranked player in the country (or whatever he was) he'd get the credit he deserves. That lofty ranking blinds people into not being able to appreciate what he does for this program.

And his moping and taking plays off is masked often times by folks who give him slack because of that ranking.
Cuts both ways.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with his Eyeore body language and people tiring of listening and seeing the coaching staff treat him like a four year old girl for two and a half seasons. Tennessee fans have already seen this act once. Hopson is Vincent Yarbrough II. Those of us who sat through the original never clamored for a sequel. When this season ends, Hopson will have played on three teams that were never in real contention for an SEC regular season title, never won an SEC Tournament, and whose greatest season ended because he fell asleep and lost Durrel Summers and bricked a free throw at the end. That's just how it plays out. Has he been a contributor? Yes. Has he been one of the main reasons Tennessee has been the basketball equivalent of Sybil the last three seasons? You bet.

Well the gang's all here.

I've never crowned Hopson as the Savior, I just have issues with how unfairly he's been treated on here.

Yet the beef people have with him could be easily corrected.

Jesus Christ So, if you're not just gushing with praise over a good scoring game against LSU, he's being treated unfairly? The acting like Hopson is above reproach mentality is the same approach that this staff has employed with him during his time here and is probably the reason he'll never reach his potential.

Living up to message board posters expectations of him isn't easily corrected. It's actually impossible.

Someone will always find a way to qualify what he does.

That's not the only approach the staff has used. It's the only one you want to believe they've employed because it fits your agenda. But you couldn't be more wrong.

And there will be others who gush over his ranking and beg for him not to leave for the NBA.

Once again, cuts both ways.
