The NCAA did everything they could to shorten the game. Did they, No they filled the void with commercials. NFL game get through a game in 3 Hrs, 15 Min.Need a rule change to allow each team a challenge each half. If they overturn the call you keep your challenge. Don’t want to slow the game down even more, but the officials are changing the outcome of some games. The no call targeting on the GT QB fumble last night is a recent example of poor officiating changing the outcome of the game.
A ND player punched a USC player today??The NCAA did everything they could to shorten the game. Did they, No they filled the void with commercials. NFL game get through a game in 3 Hrs, 15 Min.
With all these changes College games still last 3 hrs, 45 Minutes. Nothing really accomplished.
College is College and NFL is NFL.
Tennessee advantage is strength, depth and conditioning.
Games rests on the officials and it does not matter which Conference you are a part of which is a scary thought going into the CFP.
The crew we had today called at least one of our games this season.
If I was a coach in the SEC I would be pissed.
I got pissed when the ND player punched the USC player. They may not have called it on the field but they should have suspended the player from the game based on a booth phone call.
It is not just our games, it is across the board. In some cases, less mistakes, but in most games a flag will be picked up or thrown for the heck of it.The officiating was poor. We are an extremely undisciplined team and probably don’t get the benefit of the doubt on some of these close calls. We need to clean up our end before we get too worked up about the officiating.
Same! On that long td to Thornton, matthews had an unnecessary peal back block, and I couldn’t believe they didn’t call it.It took quite some time for me to come around and admit it’s true, but somehow we get jobbed with lame, momentum killing penalties almost every game. It’s so bad that after a big play I don’t get excited about it. I wait to see if there will be a flag on the play.
$30,000 to $48,000 per yr for just 12 days work is a pretty good gig. I'd expect at least some unbiased officiating for that kinda money. This may have been the worst officiating call of the year.
Aren’t these full time jobs? Don’t these guys earn 6 figures for weekend travel and work?
EDIT: Oops I couldn’t have been more wrong. SEC officials are part time and earn $2500 - .$4000 per game (per ChatGPT).
Maybe that’s the issue?
Yep I know a horsecollar when I see one and will yell it out regardless of the Perp. That wasn't.. Also agree with the roughing the passer call. Bad call. But, Once the Refs saw that The Vols were in control, they started calling Vandy for stuff. Nuts. The horse collar call was the biggest BS call of the year.
It's coming. soon to be fulltime employeesThis may have been the worst officiating call of the year.
