Evina Comment

Nah, time for these women to stand up for themselves. They’re young adults, not children. She has a right to state her opinion and she really didn’t even say anything in that video. He non-answer was loaded though.

Holly throws these young women under the bus twice a week when they lose. It’s always their fault, but the play and outcomes have been the same over the last 5 seasons. Long before Evina even knew she’d be a lady vol.

If I felt like Holly had any respect for them at all those comments would have pissed me off. The sheer fact that she even felt comfortable hinting that they needed a new coach tells you everything you need to know. Holly lost the locker room. They don’t respect her because she does not respect them.

Holly should have to walk home from College Park.
I agree with you. If the players that are Lady Vols now can see that, just think what other recruits will be thinking about being a Lady Vol. They will start going elsewhere. I mean if Holly can't coach 5 or 6 McDonalds all Americans, then she does not need to be a head coach.

It took a lot of courage for Westbrook to speak up....It's quite possible she was speaking up for more than just herself about changes being needed in the coaching ranks....The players know Holly just doesn't have it, and never will.

Time to move on.....The next coach needs to know modern day offensive basketball.

good point. I’m sure there are others on the team who feel the same way, but Evina just had to finally spill some of the tea when asked.

It is disrespectful but that is part of the problem... a change needs to happen, we need strong new leadership that demands respect... it’s been missing since Pat left.

I am 100% behind what Evina did and said

she was not disrespectful or demeaning
she wasn't demanding
she simply let honesty lead

She echoes my personality
I love it when I am under good management in my workplace

when not,
I seek change,
if I can't get change
I change it

It's inappropriate, no matter which player did it. There is a time and a place for players to voice any issues they have. A public airing of grievances in the media after a loss is neither.

Welcome to the new world of social media. Holly has lost the locker room and the players want a change and are playing their best hand to force it.

These players have good pedigrees; they know what's what when it comes to whether or not a coach is preparing them to succeed. think they are just justifiably tired of "taking the blame" which could in the end, help keep Holly on the job.

People have criticized these players for coming to the program because they presumably wanted a soft coach who wouldn't make demands on them but when they signal, "hey, we want to get better and win; find us someone who can do that"; then they are condemned for being disrespectful.

I say the heck with that. Desperate times call for desperate measures. They have been loyal soldiers but eventually sane people will mutiny against the general who keeps sending them out to be slaughtered.

Those soldiers voluntarily signed up to go into battle for Holly! They were not drafted! They knew what and who they were signing up for! I agree tho a change could be made but Evina should work harder to get better! Work on ball handling and her decision making! Just wrong place and wrong time for her comments!

Yeah, right. It would be against team rules in football or MBB and subject to suspension. Of course, those teams have leadership, discipline and players who actually know there are rules.

Who says she didn't air it privately to appropriate people and got an inadequate response first?

The US has been a volunteer military for quite a while. And maybe these recruits were told that the past problems were due to players who had left; or that the coaching staff had figured out how to return the team to the higher playing levels of Holly's first two or three seasons (when the team motto was grind for nine; rather than "yeah, we barely made the tournament and then confirmed the skeptics who said we should not get in.")

So says one of the few Holly Warlick supporters left

Well, if she'd talked to Fulmer, she probably would have been told what everybody else has been told-- that he's going to evaluate the situation and see what needed to be done after the season. So she could have respected what the AD has said all season and she could have respected the trust her university put in her by allowing her to speak to the media after a hard loss. I mean, the season hadn't even been over an hour. Give the AD a chance to respond.

Not if they bring in a new coach.
My statement was meant about the fan base. You can see there are a lot of fans saying negative things about what she said. This will get back to her and it will be a new coach...but the same fan base that had negative things to say about her. She opened up a can of worms that didn't need to be opened. If Holly's supporters see her as a reason Holly gets fired it could cause her problem. The players should just play and let the chips fall where they may. That's what I meant by she will be damned if she stays or damned if she leaves.
