Evina Comment

Evina has played like crap the whole season so that is both on her and the head coach. Holly's big mistake was not benching her ass earlier in the year.

You sound like a damn fool. Benching her for who exactly???? Holly should have benched HERSELF! The whole team looked ridiculous as they have for many seasons PRIOR to Evina joining the team. EVERY DAMN SEASON the blame falls on a new group of players as though they coach themselves

Evina is a perfect metaphor for the current state of the program. She's an obviously talented pg except for the fact she's a serial turnover machine and the tos come in bunches and at the worst possible time. This hasn't changed one bit, except arguably gotten worse, since her first game about 60 games ago. AND, the alternative is even worse. Did someone really say Evina should be benched in favor of Massengill???? Welcome to the current sad state of the program.

As far as Evina's hostage video and her comments, in ordinary times I would agree its best said in private. But these are not ordinary times and we don't know that the players haven't been asking for help in private. Maybe this was a desperate public plea to be rescued after no one else (Fulmer) would listen to them.

Technically CHW is an instructor, paid by my tax dollars, at the University of Tennessee. For the last four seasons, she's been taking in National Merit Scholars and turning out students who can't spell their own names. This is a crime against basketball must be stopped immediately. Send in the SWAT team! Free the players!

Without Westbrook, the Lady Vols don't come close to making the tourney. Some games she won dang near by herself on willpower and determination. Does she screw up. Yes, but the girl can play.

But if you let her do what she wants..... then there is no respect.... which is the bigger problem

I'm glad she said this.

Everyone knows that what she says is the truth.

At least now it puts pressure on the Tennessee AD.

Honestly this is three years over due.

Exactly.. I like her more than anything now...I always embrace people who speak their mind, just like a relationship, when u walk away without saying anything like Diamond and the rest did, it doesn't help. To me she loves Lady vols and wants to stay. otherwise, she could've kept quite and just transferr, but no, she maintained that she wants a change! Amen to her.

What were the exact words that came out of her mouth that were unforgivable?

Unforgivable for saying the truth? I did exactly the same when I was asked to give a presentation at my Federal job. Guess what, someone got fired. "If u don't want the truth, don't ask". Some ppl calls the truth fake or hater.

Following a legend is tough, but it can be done. Unfortunately, Warlick was not the answer. Fulmer made his decision last year because he thought Warlick could right the ship. Sadly, the program is worse, and players are now demanding staff changes. The disarray has gone on too long. The University has got to figure out a way to gracefully exit Warlick. If she won’t ride into the sunset, they have no choice but to simply cut her loose. Then Fulmer has to find someone who can win. Winning cures a lot of ills. As we’ve seen in the past no one really cares about the players being champions of life.

Which is likely what any other decent coach in the county would have done.
The only problem is Green is very athletic but wild and out of control and I believe would turn the ball over lots more than Evina and sadly Mass I just don't know if she can be a big help at this level! She would have been better off as a lay Moc!

Off the court could mean shes tired of the coaches not focusing on making these players better.
Correct! As I have said so many times before most of these kids chose Holly because they knew she was easy! They chose the easiest 4 years! Westbrook is different she actually wants to get better! But be careful what you wish for your teammates may still want the easy path! Holly all the sudden becoming a task master may cause a few to leave!

I truly hope not. Aside from the Turnovers I really like Evina, her overall game, she’s a heady player, high basketball IQ, and is only going to get better.
I’m just going off of her comments and her moms. I hope the entire team is back.

Any of our mickey d all americans that want to leave should leave. find some girls that are hungry to win not ones who have already hit the dessert line.

These girls are hungry to win. But how do you do that when you don’t have a true leader. Yes, Westbrook and Davis have all the potential in the world to lead this team but who’s showing them what a leader is? That’s the problem there can be no growth with anyone on this team because Holly isn’t a true leader herself. She’s a good assistant. That’s it. I’m not about to sit here and let anyone bash these young women. Holly is ruining their professional careers by not pulling all of their potential out of them. I would be pissed too. No, they weren’t completely healthy all season(KK) but there is no excuse for how this season unfolded. No excuse for the type of play I saw on the court. When things began clicking it always seemed to click because the players found a groove. Not because Holly made an adjustment. Not because Holly coaches someone out of their slump or instilled some confidence. She wanted the position for wonderful reasons, she should now leave it for all of those same reasons.

The ones hungry to win are the ones who are itching to get out of Knoxville. They know they're going nowhere under Holly.

If a girl was hungry to win, why would they come to Tennessee? That should be an automatic red flag at this point

It took a lot of courage for Westbrook to speak up....It's quite possible she was speaking up for more than just herself about changes being needed in the coaching ranks....The players know Holly just doesn't have it, and never will.

Time to move on.....The next coach needs to know modern day offensive basketball.

Crammer said in a follow up tweet that it was clear that although Evina was the one speaking on camera, she had support from other players in the locker room.

You’re delusional. She’s doing her best to play in a broken system with a halfwit for a coach.
No one plays their best when your HC is incompetent, doesn't know how get players to play as a team , doesn't coach fundamentals
until season over in year 8 . SHE NEEDS TO BE GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Irrespective of whether what she said is true or not (it is, btw) once the players start making public comments of this sort the damage is done and is usually irreparable. In this case, the damage has been long done, unfortunately.

When this kind of "dirty laundry" starts being aired-out where everyone can see it it's an attempt to force someone's hand (in this case Fulmer). The poisonous plant seed was planted several years ago and comments like this are fertilizer. The off-season will allow it to grow unchecked until it's dug up and burned.

Now something HAS to be done one way or the other. Either you clean house staff-wise or you clean house player-wise. Speaking strictly from a program management standpoint you can't have players openly questioning their coaches competence and expect good things to happen.

It's funny to me that sometimes people make comments in a way to be neutral to both side instead of just say the truth, or not say it at all. And, some ppl sound intelligent by no saying a word. GULE is one of the most intelligent ppl that I like to read her comments, but sometimes I'm like did she/He said that or driving and posted it. All the players that had left this team knows very well that holly can't coach and they've all lied and made excuses why they left. Finally, I'm glad that the truth came out of a player who is not scared to say it. Now, when u said "bench her" and my question would've been bench her with who??? Holly put a lot of confusion on players that's y they don't perform to higher level. I listened to her interview and she kept saying how she had been so loyal to the administration, and she love the program with all her blood, her kidney, Pancreas and her liver..She seriously have a psychological problem.

I thought Evina showed remarkable restraint for a college sophomore.
Darn right and her teammates most likely thought the same way! If a change is not made EW is gone and others may follow. Regardless of what Gule said she is the best player and cares about winning. She like all of us has limitations but she is as sick as we are about the state of the program. In most cases I would say let her walk, NOT THIS ONE!! Real curious about the off the court crap but can only imagine what it may be. I agree if someone cant stand the answer don't ask the question!
