The team will be loaded. Whether or not Vitello can get them beyond the curse of UT sports mediocrity and winning the one series that counts is a different concern.

100% agree with the pressure on both the players and coaches.

No, Beck and Gilbert will be high draft picks in this year’s MLB draft. They won’t return. Our starting rotation and key players in our lineup will return.

My expectation is for the team to be near the top of the SEC East, the SEC, and contending for a deep postseason run. I’m not putting a number on our future record. It would be unfair to expect anything like our record this season. This season was historic.

Exactly. Anytime a jinx or a curse is mentioned, to me it’s a cop out for what really happened. Sometimes it’s a pitcher getting a batter out. Sometimes it’s the batter getting the hit.

It works in all sports. When there are two equally matched teams competing at a high level, an at bat or possession here or there can impact the outcome due to the importance of each one.

But we always come out on the losing end in the modern era-except in women’s basketball and that one year in ‘98. We had arguably the greatest qb of all time playing with first rounders and they’d get their bleep pushed in every time Florida and Nebraska walked on the field. It’s a curse until we win one.
