We have to start caring about opponents stealing bases. That’s done us in two postseasons in a row now. We kept them in the game by giving up that soft run in the 2nd.
But we always come out on the losing end in the modern era-except in women’s basketball and that one year in ‘98. We had arguably the greatest qb of all time playing with first rounders and they’d get their bleep pushed in every time Florida and Nebraska walked on the field. It’s a curse until we win one.
There were some injuries his last year. I was told years ago, that boosters ran off him. Delmonico wanted money put into the program. I was surprised he never did much after Tennessee. Pretty sure he was an assistant at FSU.Eh…Rod did get us to Omaha 3 times even if he ran it into the ground at the end. I’m not sure I’m there just yet.
A big part of his demise was the APR penalties. He wasn’t making kids go to classThere were some injuries his last year. I was told years ago, that boosters ran off him. That might be true but my point is we’ve only had excuses because we always choke in post-season play
Sometimes it’s just a bunch of guys having fun.Exactly. Anytime a jinx or a curse is mentioned, to me it’s a cop out for what really happened. Sometimes it’s a pitcher getting a batter out. Sometimes it’s the batter getting the hit.
It works in all sports. When there are two equally matched teams competing at a high level, an at bat or possession here or there can impact the outcome due to the importance of each one.
I agree that the coaching hires have UT in the best possible position to get post-season titles in baseball, football, women’s basketball, tennis, track, and golf (men’s basketball omission is intentional). I just hope our coaching talent and recruiting can overcome traditionA curse only works if you believe in it. So what will it take to get you to be a fan of some other team. It might be you causing all these losses over the years.
Or it is voodoo that works that way?
Keep wearing your Orange and pulling for the Vols. We are in good hands with our coaching staffs. You and your curse is just one more thing the Vols have to overcome to get the NCs we all want. You couldn’t stop being a Vol, to break your curse, even if you tried.
Maybe you can find out at a post-season watch party if we ever get to have one
Nice little gig at the end. Did you put that in the thread about the tradition the Vols should give up in the FF?I agree that the coaching hires have UT in the best possible position to get post-season titles in baseball, football, women’s basketball, tennis, track, and golf (men’s basketball omission is intentional).
