I’ll be first to let you know I don’t really follow baseball in general. But obviously being a Vol fan I try to keep up with what happening.
LAST year I guess the hype started and continued to roll through this entire season.
For the baseball guys , can TN consistently be a top 10 team year in year out? Or was this kinda a phase? Thx!
Based on his name, you should take nothing he says seriously. Even if he made that back in the day, who the hell actually loved the Dooley hire? And I'm not counting people who were trying to convince themselves it was a good hire.
So, who all are we projected to lose???
Beck, Gilbert, Lipscomb, Lipcius, Russell, Tidwell, Walsh, Joyce (possibly)…where does Sewell stand? Christian Scott? Seth Halvorsen?

As deep as SEC baseball usually is, no I don’t think top 10 every year is feasible. I do think the days of just hoping to make Hoover are over. We should at least be in the NCAAT every year or almost every year. Ole Miss was the last team to get an at-large bid this year and they’re in Omaha. All you need in baseball to have a chance is a foot in the door.I’ll be first to let you know I don’t really follow baseball in general. He's got good hands but marginal arm and range. defensively, he would be a better player at 3B. Offensively, he has power potential but needs help with his swing. He profiles as a potential power hitting corner infielder/3B type, but with a lot of work to do to get there. I could see him coming back to learn how to play third and hit if Tony wants him. I don't see him going very high in the draft unless the pros see potential at third and want in on him as a development project.Honestly, I’d prefer to see Lawson go pro. Maybe he could take a step forward and I’d look stupid but his hitting in SEC play was atrocious and his fielding in postseason was just as bad. We can replace .216 and 3 HRs in SEC play
Burns was nearly a first round pick and gone. Pulled his name out to come to Tennessee. Moore dropped more than most thought. Basically both were teetering on the edge of the draft. Stephenson almost went pro too. Almost got SS Ryan Spikes and JUCO 2B Dooney. Burke and Beam weren’t draft threats. Stanwich and Sloop may be worth watching but I don’t think either have the pre-draft notoriety of Burns/Moore. I’ll have my eyes on Ortega, Stephenson, Mabry, Sewell, Connell, and Lawson. Are any of them supposed to be as good as Beam , Burns, Burke or Moore ??
We will be in the hunt for SEC title. Beyond that, we will have to get hot at the right time. Down the stretch this year our SP faltered some . . . And we started making errors.
Unless Mabry, Sewell, and Connell are just ready to move on I see them back. Don’t really project as big league arms in todays game. At least to my untrained eye.Burns was nearly a first round pick and gone. Pulled his name out to come to Tennessee. Moore dropped more than most thought. Mabrey has pretty good stuff. I could see him climbing the ranks if he’s willing to slog through the minors for a while. It would be a few years before he made The Show though, if he ever did.Unless Mabry, Sewell, and Connell are just ready to move on I see them back. Their first base runner walked, stole 2nd, stole 3rd and scored on infield ball. Thats baseball. We played swing for the fence winning many games with sheer brute force playing in a small home stadium. It worked extremely well for the regular season where you see a variety of pitching, and also won on the backs of the 3 draft pick pitchers on the team. Post season was a different story for both our pitchers and our hitters.
