Expedition or Tahoe???

These all day long and twice on Sundays.

We had an odyssey also and never had any issues. 150k miles which also includes pulling a pop up camper then a 3k lb Trialmanor with no issues. Double automatic sliding doors and a back seat that folds flat to haul things makes it very versatile. But the reliability was the key. Cant go wrong with one.

We've had our Odyssey for 2 years now, and it was a fantastic purchase. Excellent value compared to the monster SUVs, good gas mileage, EXTREMELY utilitarian, comfortable, easy to drive. We tested most of the large kid-carriers (Tahoe, Expedition, Nav, Seq, etc), but once we got over the ridiculous group-think that there is something "uncool" about a minivan, the choice was easy.

By often, do you mean the snob's viewpoint? Vehicles are transportation and nothing more. I can understand purchasing luxurious vehicles that make you feel good sitting in them and driving them. Someone driving an old rusty car means nothing more to me than that is what they're comfortable in as far as transportation goes. I haven't washed my car in 3-4 weeks so I guess I'm low on the esteem survey.:hi:

Not saying from a snobs point of view just from a human nature point of view. For me when I see someone driving a junker I wonder what bad decision they made in their life to arrive at this current point. It's not always the case though with most people. One guy I work with makes over $130K a year and drives a toyota corolla thats a rust bucket and has no hubcaps. You'd never know this guy made six figures. I also know a guy who owns a 2008 Mercedes C class..its a nice car..but he works at a sporting goods store part time and lives with his sister..You shouldnt judge a book by its cover but most do.

I usually look at how clean a car is kept to formulate an opinion. I hate a messy vehicle.

Seriously?

That makes absolutely zero sense.

You go on to say you can't judge a book by its cover, but you say you do. I don't get that.

I'm the opposite. I tend to look at people with high line vehicles and tend to think they're drowning in an awful lease or some ridiculous 84 month finance deal...all to satisfy some image they've constructed for themselves.

My experience watching cars (and the deals attached to them) go in and out of a dealership tell me that's a lot closer to reality.

Man, that seems very superficial to me. I am a huge car guy, and I don't judge someone if they don't drive an older car that has seen better days. The people I judge are the folks who spend a lot of money on a bad car, or spend a lot of money and don't get a lot of car in return. Looking at you base Audi A4 owners with no seat heaters, front wheel drive and cvt. You know who you are! Just get the passat folks!

Hell, I have respect for some people driving 'older' wheels that they keep up. I've had several 80s thru early 2000s model cars that would look fairly low rent now but I'd take back in a heartbeat.

I had an SVT Focus I adored, an Integra, a CRX Si that I still try to find again every once in a while, etc...

This. Luxury cars are a terrible investment. Why would anyone want to spend that kind of money on something that drops so quickly in value? There are a thousand things I'd rather spend my money on than cars.

You've owned some really cool cars there. I loved the integra. I looked at a focus svt and really liked what I saw. Was yours competition orange?

Somebody lied to you. 2007 has a 6.0 in early models and a 6.4 in later year models.

6.7 wasn't out yet. I believe 2010 is the year the 6.7's came out.

Sounds like he was going to stud it, egr kit and tune it.

No way it's 3k for a delete kit.

they're cheap relative to the cost of the vehicle.

A coworker had a 2007 Ford F250 with the 6.7l, and an EGR delete kit was going to cost him around 3 grand. He traded it off before he had a chance to install it, but 3 grand isn't exactly chump change.

I drive a '95 Blazer, perfect car and in great condition for the age/mileage. The only thing I ever had trouble with on it was that damn EGR. I finally got fed up with it and installed a screen and that seems to finally have resolved the issue. That thing frustrated me to no end.

That...and the fact that your $60k+ style statement is out there with every other $800 clunker, scrap metal/pallet hauler, and un-tarped gravel truck on the road.

I'm saying you shouldnt judge a book by its cover but I do. I know it is not the "PC" thing to do yet I still do it.. Kinda like I know I should open the door for a female because its nice but I decide not too because she ain't a Princess like Daddy told her she was...

Read "The Millionaire Next Door".

I know what it will say and I follow it. Most people who are rich you might not even know. Buy a car that suits your needs not something to show off to people. A great example is a Lincoln. Why buy a Lincoln when you can get THE EXACT SAME THING in a cheaper Ford? Or an Acura..you can get the same thing in a Honda and it will probably get stolen less.

It's my money. I'll buy what I want. Not what some one else thinks I should have.

I don't buy vehicles for mpg. I buy them for spm ( smiles per mile)

Yeah I don't care about MPG really. I just want a nice ride thats comfortable for me and anyone else in it.

I've been shopping around lately and been into the Lexus GX 460..but honestly the biggest different besides price from the Lexus to a regular SUV is just the quality of leather. In the end there is nothing else really special about the Lexus outside of styling.

Press the gas pedal to the floor and notice how quiet it is.

Speaking of the Integra...I think its something Honday is missing greatly. I think there's a bit of $$$ to be made in a similar car built now.

What kind did you have?

I have a friend from high school that still has an absolutely spotless GSR in the family. I want to say its a 93. The Dad bought it new and has kept it since. Its probably around 130-150k miles, but it impressively clean.

At least you're honest, I guess.

In a Suburban currently, but considering a Honda Pilot now. For me the Suburban has been a better experience than any Expedition I've ever driven.

I like the Suburban vs the minivan because it provides me with a personal sense of security for the wife and kids. Could be imaginary…but it is what it is.
