Explain your contempt for Erik Ainge?

Yeah, they'd rather call Ainge stupid and then put their faith on someone who still cannot throw the ball right now and who's never taken a snap in a game. And Ainge is wreckless?

Ainge is very wreckless, and he was wreckless last year too (1 INT against UF, 4 against Auburn, 1 against Ole Miss, 2 against Bama, 1 against SC.) The only SEC team he played that he didn't throw an interception against was Georgia, and considering the fact that he was splitting time with Schaeffer, 9 INTs in 9 games...he actually threw less INTs this year! The kid got hyped up for his performance in the Florida game, and hasn't done anything sensational since.

OK we get it , some of you guys think Ainge sucks and should be sent packing, some of you think that he will be fine next yr under the fine coaching of CUT. In the long run , none of us get to make the call on who starts. WHy don't we move on, did you notice that the Basketball season has had a pretty good start? DId you see where the volleyball team made it to the semi-finals? Did you notice that even though we stunk it up in football this season that the sun still continued to rise every morning? Can't you smell the deceased equine and realize that you can beat him from now until doomsday and he still won't get up? Can just build a bridge and get over it ? AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Where's my prozac prescription?

These are uncomparible.  Quinn and Palmer, no matter how terrible their freshman year ratings, showed continual improvement.  Ainge is regressing...something Quinn and Palmer never did, under any coach!  To state with certainty that Ainge is going to bounce back from below 90s to the 130s is absurd.  Yes, he may do it, but he also may continue to regress.  He is not in the same situation that Quinn and Palmer were in when their new coaches came, they were already improving.

Excuse me, but Palmer dropped below 120 his sophomore season. It was actually his 3rd year playing after he was given a medical redshirt his 2nd year.

It only takes decent stats to get a rating in the 130s. If Ainge did it as a true freshman, then he can do it again. It would take a very stupid person to say that someone can not do something that they have already done. And to say that once a person regresses, they can never regain what they had before?

Historical perspective. Reggie Cobb rushed for over 1,000 yards his freshman season. He sucked during his sophomore year rushing for just over 400 yards. He played his best during his junior season.... getting in sports illustrated after rushing for 220+ yards against Auburn. He was averaging over 6 yards per carry before he got kicked off the team.

don't read it and go to a bama website then

It almost seems like he has some sort of obsession with Ainge, a 19-20 year old no less, that he has to point out the negatives exclusively and not the positive.

Here is a snippet of an interview with Erik Ainge. He may not be as stupid as one might think.

CFN: Considering how young you are in your career, was there anything positive about being forced to sit out in your true freshman season?
EA: Absolutely. With my physical gifts, the special plays will just happen. You can't coach them, you can't plan for them, they'll just happen. But what I have to work on is not forcing the ball down the field, not forcing plays that aren't there, and sometimes taking the safer play or just throwing it away. What Rick (Clausen) is great at is seeing when something isn't there and taking what is there to make a play. He's great at seeing what the really easy play is, like throwing the ball to the running backs, and making something happen with it. I have to make sure that I can see that when it's there, and sitting out made me look for that a little bit more. I never had to look for that in high school so that was never installed in my head, so I got to learn and be more patient.
CFN: Yeah, being thrown out there like you were, you have to look back at films and go crazy at all the little things you missed.
EA: All the time. I didn't even understand all about coverages. I mean, I understood them, but not really. I kind of went out there, ran around and threw it. Now I know who's open and where I should be looking when certain coverages are there. It makes the game slow down a lot and makes things a lot easier.

The beauty about this web board and the country for the matter is any one can announce their opinion on any thing!
Wooohoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do agree that Basketball and other UT sports should be the dominant topics at this time of the season.

I am new and I probably should not have started this thread but I was curious to see how the posters felt about Ainge. Lest any one forget he is a Tennessee Football Player.

I LOVE VOLNATION!

you should be more trusting of others.
by VolnuteerHillbilly

I realize that was a sarcastic statement, or that is how I took it.

I do not trust people because of the job I have.

If I cannot see someone, meaning their body language, and hear the tone in which they speak, I cannot make a clear judgment.

Words mean next to nothing, you can learn a lot about a person by their tone and body actions.

You can curse my name and threaten me, but if your tone and body language do not match those words it means next to nothing.

Hence the phrase, trust 80% of what you see and 20% of what you hear. It may be silly but there is a lot of truth in it.

Define it even more 50% body language, 30% tone, 20% words.

have no problem with you starting this thread, but after 6 pages and about the bazillionth thread about QB's some of us who've been around awhile get screaming migranes

keep posting buddy! I love the Volnation too! :ninja:

I love to post and talk about stuff, though I understand your argument and or point of view.

If someone like you has a billjillion posts and some newbie like me comes in and restarts an old argument it has to be tiresome.

Perhaps we should talk about relative moralism in the pub?

Does that sound like fun?
