Facts are facts - Kiffin is running off the talent

This is just normal attrition that is bound to happen with a coaching change. Some people don't like change. Some of these guys may not like the new work ethic, or feeling they have to compete for a job they felt they were entitled to. Maybe some of the players are angry about Fulmer being fired. These players not only had to get used to a new coach and new system, but all of the postion coaches changed also. The players that are leaving need to go if they have issues with the staff or the direction the team is headed. The system needs players that belive in what the coaches are doing and that want to win games and championships. This is all part of the cleansing process from the old regime to the new one. Everything will be alright.

Maybe its because we didn't have a QB position coach until CLK arrived and BJ liked coaching himself.

Once you sign that LOI, those starsgo out the window. This is an evaluation period that the coaches are assessing the current players, identifying shortcomings, and going out and recruiting accordingly. Bottom line: THE BEST WILL PLAY!!!!

With the most recent losses, the Vols now have a grand total of 18 players currently on-campus who were 4-star or 5-star recruits. Of the 9 that have left so far, EIGHT of them fit this criteria, as well...say what you want, that is a serious loss of talent for a roster thin on it. 11 of the incoming recruits will help this, but will only bring the number to 29. Worse, of the 18 elite players on campus today, 9 are SRs and Eric Berry makes 10 who will be leaving after 2009, meaning the staff will have to have a banner year in the 2010 class to really make an improvement. Don't bother arguing that stars don't matter, because all of the best players are included in these 18 (Berry, Hardesty, Jones, McCoy, McClendon, Brown, Crompton, etc).

There are some elite players in spots, but they are surrounded by very average to below-avg talent around them. This would have been the value of the players who have now left in the coming seasons. Plus, the fact that Bama, LSU, Fla, and UGA all have over 40 already on campus, and will have around 60 come fall, tells you why UT can't compete right now.

The point is that there will be little to zero talent in the upperclasses during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. That doesn't bode well for turning things around in those years, considering all 4 of the teams listed above are on the schedule each of those years. If you're one of the ones praising LK for these moves today, don't be caught at the front of the mob wanting to run him off after 3 mediocre seasons.

Just the facts. It won't be pretty for the next few years.:hmm:
Ummm...ill take a janzen jackson for a morley. And a Bryce brown for a lennon creer. And hopefully a heaps/scroggins combo for a coleman. Just me I guess....

With Paige now gone, the numbers move to 17 left and 9 of the 10 departed being elite recruits. Say anything you want about the reasons, they may be valid. But it's gonna be slim pickins for at least the next couple of years because of this. There's no way around it. You don't beat Fla, Bama, UGA, and LSU in 2010 and 2011 with almost all freshmen and sophomores, no matter how talented.

This is why we beat Florida, LSU and Bama over the last couple of years with them? Get real.

What you're refusing to acknowledge is that it would be 'slim pickins' regardless of whether or not these players were here...

None of these players you have mentioned outside or Morley has made or was even close to making a significant impact on the team...

You can whine about Kiffin running off a bunch of 4-5 star players but what you either fail to acknowledge or fail to realize is that recruiting stars mean jack squat when a player gets on the field in D-1 college football

wish i would have seen this before morley and bj. would have loved too say yeah average talent. but morley did it himself and bj I still dont understand he would have played for sure and ended up starting

When Al Davis calls you an embarrassment, geez, that’s like Dick Nixon calling you a paranoid schizophrenic. But I’m inclined to believe old man,

wish he had just started with that so I didn't read the whole thing

I don't think that we have lost more than one starter yet. Coleman, Creer, Langley, Paige, Sawtelle, Abrahms-Ward, and Myers (maybe missing one) probably wasn't going to challenge for any starting positions honestly. I don't think that would be running off the talent.

Exactly....

If he were running off Martin, McCoy, Jones, Hardesty, Walker, D. Williams or...dare I even say it....Berry :eek:hmy:...then this would be a legit thread...

There is nobody on the OP's list outside of an underachieving Morley that's even sniffed meaningful playing time since they've been here

If we're going to upgrade the roster as fast as possible, and this roster needs a huge updgrade, then a bunch of players need to leave. I'd be more concerned if there wasn't a bunch of players leaving. There will be a few good ones lost with the fat, but this process is desparately needed.
