Fear the Walking Dead

I dunno... sure, he's a jackass. But is he really on the same level as some of the other antagonists in TWD universe??

If the jarheads are guilty of anything, it's severely abusing their power and authority in a time of chaos. While their actions have seemed harsh and misguided, they still appear to be acting on behalf of the greater good until things start falling apart.

I liked it. At least one interesting new character, the black guy in the prison with Nick. He should be fun to watch. We also learned a lot about Daniel Salazar. And the episode provided good setup for the military bolting in the next episode. And we can be expecting a huge herd of walkers to come out of that chained-up concert hall or whatever. Season finale looks promising.

That Strand character is very well written thus far. I was saying to myself during the episode that he seems like the start of what could be a very good TWD villain even.

Somebody set that arena on fire!

Walkers get out of the arena and overrun the military retreat... Do you think that Daniel/Travis/Madison release the walkers for a diversion tactic? Or do the doors finally just fail?

My lord this criticism of anyone giving criticism is getting so freakin' old, and it has been old about 3 years now.

It's laughable that every time someone says they didn't like an episode, this is pulled out. Show me where I said that's why I didn't like the episode because there wasn't enough "hack and slash zombies". If that were why I didn't like it then I would hate pretty much the entire season because there's been about 5 zombies on screen all season.

You serious Clark?

There are 2 posts made that he would be referring to, mine and BEATBAMA12's. Nobody else had made any mention of not liking the episode. I seriously doubt he was responding back to posts from 1-2 weeks ago like SandVol's post.

Secondly, my criticism still remains, that line he used has been used for about 3-4 years now in response to any criticism about the WD shows being slow/nothing happening/etc. Anytime anyone says they didn't enjoy an episode, someone always pulls out the "every episode isn't going to be gore and zombie killing!"

Easy chief. All I was saying is that I think the opposite of what you stated. I actually think quite a bit happened (torture sequence, seeing where the military is taking "threats," Daniel's wife dying and having to be put down by Liza and the internal conflict she's feeling over it, arena full of undead, etc. etc.).

The second part of my post was in reference to the fact that most people who claim "nothing happened" in an episode of this or TWD want more zombies and "action." Talk about getting old....

If that's not how you feel, cool, but for the vast majority of people who state that, it is.

Are you talking about here, or in general?

In general.

In my experience, folks I've talked to about the show, forums, social media posts, etc.

I haven't really looked back too far in TWD threads on VN. I started watching the show a couple of years ago or so, so I'm unsure of what all has been said there...

Wow! That was a really good episode IMO. Better that TWD season 5 finale.

Daniel and Strand are freaking cool!

They're still not out of the greater LA area, excited now to see their journey, and I wonder who they add as characters. Going to be a good series.

I thought part of Cobalt was nuking the city (humane termination of the people)

Not nukes. More like the bombing and napalm drops used in Atlanta. Doubt that the military would use nukes on US soil...

The military in this episode had to be the most inept inefficient reserve units ever.
Where were the humvees with machine gun mounts? Grenades? Took the lookouts way too long to request help....of course one of them was smoking on guard duty. Dereliction of duty is a Serious military offense. He would have been court marshaled if he had not been eaten... :)

The one thing I find odd from the series so far is the lack of walkers. The only herd we've seen is the 2,000 or so from the arena that they led to the military installation. Where are the rest of the millions of people that lived in LA? The streets are deserted everywhere. I don't get it.

This is the beginning of the outbreak...herds take a little dying and turning.

The lock down location they just escaped is one of many in the area from what a soldier said. They lock the locations down and go out killing any one who is, or even might look like they are infected. It probably keeps the outbreak at pretty slow pace at first.

Strand has a killer pad. And a boat to go with it. Boat seems like a good idea. Coast guard could be a problem.

Ok so I guess the 0900 cobalt hasn't happened yet? It looked later than 9am to me

Ok so we get 16 weeks of 1 min webisodes that covers an entire new set of characters? Come on

A couple things actually really bugged me about this season finale.

We assume the doctor just stays there and kills herself with the bolt gun. A doctor in the apocalypse is a giant asset so the writers killing her off was just a waste.

The soldier kid comes back and shoots the girl in the arm? That scene and that shot made absolutely no sense to me. He was clearly going to shoot Salazar but changed his mind and shot her instead. What?!

I think he felt betrayed by her...when it's the end of the world, your judgement isn't always sound. Same logic applies to the Doc. I think the realization that they weren't going to be able to treat their way through this gave her that give up factor...like the chick at the CDC on TWD.
