Fear the Walking Dead

I fell off this show at the season 2 mid point. Just got back into it.

Im at the mid season 3 point and the characters have grown on me. I cant say they make any better decisions than TWD characters though. In season 2 Maddison consistently kept making choices that that would put them in danger.

And just when I really started liking Travis he gets killed in the most casual way. Im glad his little prick of a sin got knocked off the way he did though.

This ranch storyline is how the farm really should have been. I cant for the life of me figure out what Maddison's play on Troy is. Is she just trying to use him to her own ends or does she actually like him and want to mentor him?

I'll say this too, this show has handled the fractured group stories waaaayyy better than TWD. The show has stayed focused on Maddison, Nick, and Alicia but gives sprinkles of the others. Whereas TWD would go 2-3 episodes at times without even seeing Rick.

I won't argue that fracturing the group and keeping them that way has ultimately hurt TWD but I'll add that the fracturing didn't really start getting heavier until after season 4 and then it just seemed to stay that way for the next 3 seasons.

Totally caught up now. Overall I think the show did a good job of finding its own voice from TWD as opposed to just being TWD West. The characters are much more dysfunctional which keeps things interesting. The settings between the Ranch, the Trading post, and the Damn were certainly unique.

Having said that, there is a lot of dumb in this show as well. For one thing characters are consistently saved by pure luck. Then stuff like handing over all the guns to the Nation? That was only going to end one way. And of course the main characters are always elevated into the inner leadership circle of whatever group they join: Nick at the Colonia, Madison at the Ranch, even Alicia with the Proctors albeit briefly. The only one that really made sense was Daniel’s rise at the damn. Everyone else just kinda stepped into the role.

And while the drama of running out of air in the pantry was intense, how was Alicia the only one that survived suffocating then wakes up full strength ready to take on a pantry full of walkers.

For all the complaints that Negan doesn’t seem intimidating enough I’ll say Proctor John is even worse. Don’t even get me started on his instantaneous recovery from back surgery.

Anyway... I am looking forward to season 4. They kinda ruined the cliffhanger of Madison stranded on her own but unless you see the body it’s pretty predictable that anyone who disappeared is alive.

Well that was kind of shocking, though you knew something bad was going to happen by the end of the episode.

Very disappointed. He was one of the best characters between both shows. Although he is still going to be around in the flashbacks for however long that goes on. My guess is they keep that up until mid season.

After i watched it I read it was the actors decision. He basically said TV is a lot of work and he gets home sick for England.

this post apocalyptic hipster group known as the vultures already annoy the **** out of me.

Ok. I am glad to see that character die. Disliked that character since forever. (Season 4 Episode 3)

He needed to die.

Completely disagree.

He was one of the best characters on the show. His chemistry with Morgan actually worked well. They totally played off each other and it's a shame to see that potential get wiped away. All I want to do now is slaughter that traitorous, devil child. That's some straight up cold blooded s*** she did. Shoot some guy that's not only unarmed but not even looking.

After he murdered the person that saved her life and kept her safe... yup that’s cold. Seriously?
There will be more to this story in flashbacks, but he deserved that maybe from her perspective.

Well he murdered a murderer, so I don't know bad that is on the scale of wrong.

Wait... do we know what the Camino guy did? I saw how he was beating Nick and Madison to places to scavenge for food.

I’m generally watching it while working so I may have missed something.

The tension between them is going to be explained in flashbacks and back stories.

I'm not talking about him; I was referring to the ranch owner from last year, which is what I assumed Doc was referring to.

Nick didn't just walk up behind the El Camino guy and just kill him. They both had a fighting chance and Nick won that fight. What that girl did was some straight up cowardice BS especially after she contributed to whatever happened to Madison's camp along with countless other groups. She's a cancerous little murderer and I'd shoot her the second I saw her. She's the Lizzie of Fear The Walking Dead and she has to die.

He was an irritating dumbass that got people killed because of his emotions. I've been rooting for his demise since the 1st season.

Best episode of the series last night.
Coincidence that none of the original cast was in it?
I think not...

That was a good stroy episode. Reminds of the Morgan flashback episode on TWD. I like John’s character so far.
