Nice try bridge troll however that commandment refers to unlawful killing. Even within biblical times there were lawful execution methods. Crucifixion anybody?
Correct. Sixth commandment. And since I’m guessing you don’t speak or read Hebrew I’d doubt you read anything original. However it’s quite clear in the Torah’s description that it refers to unlawful killings.
The more you know.
My position is clear. And you are conflating. I don’t need to offer further explanation but you do. If you wanna connect abortion and lawful killing find a reference in the written Torah since that is what you initially threw shade about. I’ll hang up and listen. You claiming I whiffed and the reality of it aren't congruent.
Instead, you could offer a clarification of your position in an attempt to shore it up. As it stands, you've fatally undermined it.

The end result is the same.....dead people.
You’re the one deflecting here after throwing your usual shade at Christianity. And now you’re bloviating badly to try and justify your stretch Armstrong stance. You can screech all you want but that’s on you. You gonna be ok? Thoughts and prayers sentAll I see you is ducking and deflecting.
You said "lawful" killing is OK in the eye's of your God.
That's what you said.
The same courts that rule that executions are lawful are the same ones that ruled abortion is lawful.
As I was reminded yesterday:
You have a consistency problem to work out. The commandment says "thou shalt not kill", it doesn't say "thou shalt not kill unless you can internally rationalize its justification.”

Indeed you are ducking and trying to transfer your argument onto me. YOU made the connection between state execution and abortion here using the sixth commandment. I pointed out where you were incorrect, you are incorrectly stating the Torah interpretation of the English translation “thou shalt not kill”. Thats on you. Prove your own assertion or GTFO.More ducking.
I haven't thrown shade on Christianity at all in this thread - I simply asked a question. You completely sht yourself and are now hoping no one notices. My advice is to keep shoehorning 'bloviate' into each post - perhaps that will distract them through the humor of its misuse.

Nope. You’ve got an issue in trying to connect state execution with conflicting with the sixth commandment and then extrapolating that with abortion as dealt with in Jewish law (you brought up stone tablets!). You prove your argument first then I’ll see if I have anything to rebut.Edit: Your edit is irrelevant - your implication was crystal clear. You have a consistency problem to work out.
You indeed have made an argument and you can’t sell it. That’s your fault not mine.I haven't made any assertion or argument here, other than your being inconsistent in your application of the term lawful.
You can translation/interpretation distract all you like but you and I both know you have a consistency issue. Man up and deal with it.
I'd take 12% on my salary. Cha chingI'd still have brackets, but they would be simplified and I agree with you on tax rate applying to all forms of income and no deductions or exclusions. Something like:
0 to $50,000 8 %
Next $100,000 12 %
Next $250,000 15 %
Next $400,000 18%
Anything over $1 million 20%
Nope. You’ve tried to sell something you didn’t sell and you’re trying to transfer that sales job onto someone else. The sixth commandment is not in conflict with state execution and your extrapolation to abortion as being ok since it’s lawful murder is not supported by Jewish law. Google is your friend. They support abortion predominantly in cases of danger to the mothers health which I do also. The irony is that I didn't need to, you did all the heavy lifting.
Ok sure thing huff. I’m sure septic appreciates your moral support in his floundering. You go ahead and jump on that too.Damn, ND40, this is embarrassing
In summation:
- Under normal circumstances it is forbidden to take the life of an unborn child, and it may be akin to murder (depending on the stage of pregnancy and birth, see footnote11).
- As long as the unborn remains a fetus, it does not have a status of personhood equal to its mother, and therefore may be sacrificed to save the life of the mother.
- In any case where abortion may be necessary, it is of paramount importance to consult halachic and medical experts as soon as possible.
Nope we’ll have to agree to disagree. And yes he was mocking Christianity again.Dude, you said he's "throwing shade at Christianity". You have a fundamental misunderstanding of his position. He's not dogging Christianity, he's appealing to it. If anybody is shading it, it's you for implying state killings are OK. Your evidence was that Pharisees were cool with crucifixion...
I'll accept just one teaching by Christ that implies killing is acceptable punishment
