My interpretation is that a “mole” in the Trump circle found something that rose to the level of this aggression that Trump did not disclose he had, which then begs the question of why didn’t the NA, DoJ or anybody know he had it to begin with? Is a regular inventory of classified material not routinely done?

One would think nuclear weapon secrets would be numbered and inventory controlled.

That is a valid question. I highly doubt that just the DoJ and National Archives would be involved with sensitive nuclear material. Just due to the amount of damage that could be done with that info, to your point the WH and DoD would be involved.
