Federal Indictment of Donald Trump

Trump's former acting director of National Intelligence calls for FBI agent who took photo of scattered classified documents to be FIRED - as MAGA allies claim scene was Staged

Trump-era acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell said the person who approved the public release of an image of blanked-out documents scattered on the floor at the Mar-a-Lago raid needs to be fired.

He insisted several times during an interview on Steve Bannon's War Room podcast that the image was staged.

Newt Gingrich - "This is the most corrupt Justice Department in the history of this country."

I think I will take Newt's word over the liberal experts on the board.

Saying what needs to be said.

Yes per SCOTUS. So the DOJ and FBI are supposed to do the presidents bidding?
The problem with the SCOTUS argument is that it is not really a Classified Document issue as much as it is a National Archive Document issue which is covered in the Constitution.
No bidding required just a nudge from dear ole Donald would have gotten the ball rolling. Yet here we sit watching and eating popcorn while Hillary is on vacation somewhere.
Yet you pointed out that Hillary was untouchable. Why isn't Donald?

The DOJ, FBI and the media are desperate. They got two months to pull off their coup. If they don't look out on accountability. I predict it won't be pretty.

That's going to be interesting. I don't think so Tim. The facts have finally caught up to Trump.

I think it stupid for the DOJ to peruse it but if you thought Clinton should go down then you need to think trump does. And if you are ok with her getting a pass so should trump. But this isn't good and is very problematic for him.

Why Donald Trump will soon be indicted

Did Clinton have to ability to declassified? Clinton problem was backing a phony Russian dossier which included guess who? Jake Sullivan. It's all the same players.

The declassification stuff is a complete distraction. It's not what this is about. With regard to his powers as POTUS

I see. I have not kept track of every morsel. Damming info but something is not passing the sniff test with all this.

I am in no way defending Clinton, but no way she had the ability to declassify. The problem is whether or not Trump had the authorization to take documents that belong to the NA home. The next problem is that he didn't declassify them and finally no safeguards were used to protect documents. Trump has been caught and it is on a simple easily proven US code.

In 2016, Republicans were claiming social media influence via fake stories was minimal. Now it's a stolen election in 2020.
It’s a little dishonest to compare Russian social media posts to the running of the Russian collisions story across all media platforms or to the suppression of the Hunter laptop story across all media platforms. Those aren’t remotely the same thing.

Did he take them or did someone pack up his office? So you think he spent hours taping boxes or is someone assigned that task?

Don't care who packed it that is just the way the Law works. Why didn't he return them when he found them? Why did he hide them from his lawyers? Why did he demand that the DOJ/FBI return his documents to Him?

DJT is his own worse enemy. He would be cruising to the nomination in 2024 if he could just shut up. He is so smart (IQ over 163) he is dumb. What's more, is that dirty politics doesn't mean he is innocent. He committed several crimes as to what comes from it is anybody's guess.

So do you think he should be the Republican nominee in 2024 and do you think he is fit for office?

I don’t want him to be the nominee but I would 100% take him over what we have now…. The republicans should be set but they will definitely screw this up.

I do not want Biden to be the nominee, but I would 100% take him over Trump.
Hopefully, we both get our wish.

In 2016, Republicans said that social media was for morons and nobody would believe the fake news stories and vote accordingly.
In 2020, Republicans said that social media was where the well informed went to get their news and the lack of story would cause people to vote against Trump.

Completely different.

China is having tremendous problems. zero tolerance covid restrictions have decimated thier economy, and they are dealing with a severe heat drouht in which people fell down dead while workjng. On top of all this they are now losing population due to "one child only", and whats left of the work force is aging rapidly. They might not have enough people in another decade.

I still haven’t seen enough to make me think he should be prosecuted, but I disagree that there are no significant differences.

Government thinking Hillary did a crime but not sure they can prove it because her story is plausible and consistent and her team seems competent enough to convince a jury is significantly different from government thinking Trump did a crime and he floating new defenses and keeps blurting out things that undermine all the defenses the government might worry about.

Also, still having the records when they bust in with a warrant after dickering for over a year and certifying that you complied with a subpoena is significantly different than “my team screwed up their review and deleted some things that were relevant.” At least it is significantly different with respect to intent and culpability. But that’s the fig leaf that Hillary used.

This op-ed is a fairly mature restatement of why Hillary’s situation is relevant, but as a defense of Trump, it is no more compelling than the GOP twitter account that ignored all the folders and pointed out the Time magazine.

IMO, the last remaining hurdle is the significance of the information breach. People making up stupid false binary choices for why it couldn’t have been significant notwithstanding, we don’t really know what was there and likely won’t ever know. Things marked TS/SCI seems bad, but I don’t really have a frame of reference for what that means, and, for me, that’s a significant element of a prosecution decision against a former and potential future president, even if I think he’s a piece of ****.

I can understand your issue with those statements but it wasn’t just social media suppressing the Hunter Biden story. Also, what was the content of the posts in 2016? Do you know? I don’t, but even if it were something made up about a candidate it still isn’t the same as claiming a true story is fake and then intentionally suppressing that story. And here I thought they didn’t editorialize, which is how they have the protection they do.

Would Reps flip the script from 2016 to 2020 to fit the narrative of the time? 100%. So do have Dems and MSM. There’s plenty of video of Dems and media talking about the susceptibility of voting machines before 2020 and suddenly they are impenetrable and to say otherwise is a conspiracy theory. So overall I do agree with your sentiment, I do think you’re comparing somewhat different scenarios though.

Either social media has the power to influence an election or it doesn't.
