I don't see a civil war anytime within the next 100 years. I see the federal government being a 1 party authoritarian regime (not too far away from that now) after a national crisis.
The only reason I see one occurring is this: I agree with you on the way it is headed with regards to the government. There may still be two labels, but they'll agree to disagree as long as they get the benefits of the power. But once the opposition in population gets down to the hard core 20-30%, they'll fight at some point. I'd say it would be rare to see a revolution that was led by a percentage that exceeded that. Estimates are, top end, only about 1/3 of American colonists supported the American Revolution.
