FedEx, Taxes, and Paying for Infrastructure

I worked for small businesses for several years. I never understood (other) small businesses that did what you describe.

Sure, I get dropping a quick 50K on something so you can buy something instead of losing it in taxes. I get that. By why not give it out in bonuses to your employees then buying something that you dont really need?
Employees always think the small business owner has all the money he needs and doesn’t do S for his employees ....it’s a common sentiment..... why don’t you put your ass on the chopping block?..... bust your rear and take the risk of starting your own business? ..... worry about keeping the doors open and all of your employees “employed”?......

Infrastructure investment was promised by the last president. He failed and the new president is just finding a way to deliver and pay for it
You’re thinking about Obama and all of his “shovel ready” projects...... that still aren’t “shovel ready”

You couldn't be more wrong. About my situation and the situation we were discussing

His miss here is that it's not the companies money. It's the shareholders money. And if the shareholders don't agree with how their money is spent then they will hold the board accountable.
Sure, and if the public doesn't agree with how their tax dollars are spent, they'll hold the politicians accountable.
Works (or doesn't work) exactly the same way.

Please show me where I was equating government to private business. I did not at any point. You were complaining about executive compensation, luxury box purchases, and golf club memberships. I was merely pointing out you were misguided for even worrying about it.

My whole point was equating it to government.
And I'm worried about it about as much as I'm worried about government. It's many on here who seem obsessively worried about government while complacently bowing to big business and capitalism.

More people on the government payroll
Yep. And since the luthers and tastys of the world kneel before government, they are perfectly happy with that. As long as anyone more successful than they are punished and have to pay more... all is good with them.

Thanks for disproving Carl's post for me.
He said 47% don't pay s***, and that is absurdly untrue.
Your link had it at 32% for the latest year and then there is this important piece from your link........

Those paying no federal income taxes may still owe other taxes. The Tax Policy Center has estimated that about 65 percent of those who pay no federal income taxes still owe payroll taxes, and that refundable tax credits completely offset the payroll tax for only approximately 9 percent of households.

So 65% of that 32% actually do pay payroll taxes. So now we are down to 20%. I guess they are just lucky to be in the lowest quintile.

And even that 20% is still paying some sales tax; so the more accurate comment for Carl would have been "0% don't pay s***."

What happened to “fair share”?

Oh good grief. The point is that there is a significant number that don't pay federal taxes you twit.

Nothing...........that's always the objective.
Liar.

Answer Mr Sowell without your usual ******** about 'what society decides'. Let's hear YOUR definition.
