Ferguson Riots

See my prior post.

And every kid I knew had a realistic pistol pellet gun when I was a kid. 12 year olds can't be at the park?

I'm 24 and I had pistol pellet guns without orange tips as a kid as well. So it's not like these things are relics of an ancient civilization.

There may be some blame to be put on the dispatcher. The caller(s) told the dispatcher that it may or may not be a toy gun. The dispatcher never relayed this info to the responding officer(s). Whether or not the officer(s) would have treated the situation differently knowing that info is anyone's guess and probably can't be proven or disproven.

I can't disagree with any of those points posted that Nugent made.

According to the officer, who has no reason to lie, whatsoever. If you shoot a kid, your story better be good.

Look, I know I'm pretty critical of cops, but when this story came out I was like you....dispatch may not have relayed the message, the gun looked real...I was not condemning the cop at all, and awaiting more facts.

Now we have video and I've changed my tune. This cop is toast.

Again, if the cops thought the gun was real, why would they roll up within 5 feet, completely vulnerable, when there is nobody to save from this imminently threatenign 12 yo?

Juan Williams saying police officers should "run and drive away" from criminals who may be a threat to them. Unbelievable thought process.

Then why roll up on him like that if he's such a threat? That's the last thing I would do, and can't be SOP. It's not safe for either party.

That is a fair question. But... if the kid pointed or went for a gun, bb gun or not, that still doesn't mean the cop was necessarily wrong. You are jumping to conclusions based on a blurry, distant video.

I personally would not let my 12 year old child go to a park by his or herself. Certainly not with a pellet/air soft gun either.

You mean this isn't really how it is?

Uhhhhh....we have a video

Not the best video. With a very narrow scope on the scene. And no audio either.

He's right to let all the facts come out. Patience and give it time. It's getting national attention at this point so the cover ups people love to claim will happen are far harder to pull off at this point.

You wouldn't let your 7th grade son go to the park?

I must have had a very privileged and free childhood

If they made a mistake and a kid died, then yes they are necessarily wrong. Am I taking crazy pills?

The kid may have gone for the BB gun in his belt, but he didn't even have time to think clearly. I can't believe that the cops were following procedure. Please tell me this isn't how they would be trained to handle this situation.

Whoa whoa back up a sec. What if the kid went for what the cop thought was a live weapon? The "mistake" as I could see it as being in the video was rolling up too quickly. OK... but then the kid goes for a weapon, real or toy. That makes the kid culpable imho. When I was 12 years old, I knew to stop when a police officer said stop. I would never DREAM of pulling a gun on the cops. Of course I had 2 parents that taught me these things....

Good point.

3 months ago Darren Wilson stood over Michael Brown and shot him execution style.

If the evidence (in its entirety) shows the officer failed in his duty he should suffer those consequences.

Sucks to be your kid. This is why millenials are reportedly taking their parents to job interviews with them.

You don't even know me and you're making dumbass assumptions. I most certainly wouldn't take my kid to an interview. Nothing about that is appropriate in any way.

Not completely unsupervised for many very good reasons.

I may be mistaken but Im pretty sure the dispatcher never mention in relaying the call to the officers that the gun could be a fake.
